WASAKE Sake Experience was an awesome find my wife discovered while we were out wandering through Asakusa. It's a tasting bar where you can try different types of sake, from all over Japan. You're given a menu that explains: the available types of sake on tap (or behind the bar): the region from which they originate; their flavor profile and aroma; their rarity and/or award-winning status. When you are ready to sample, you purchase tokens from the bar (the cheapest option = 6 tokens for ¥2000, or about $14 USD), and you can spend a single token at any of the self-service automated dispensers around the room (about 24 in all), or purchasing one of the premium sake samples from the bar, which cost from 1-3 tokens, depending on rarity and value. Thus, my wife and I were able to take a trip around the country, enjoying some of the best sake the country has to offer, from the comfort of this cozy little bar in Asakusa. Additionally, both the staff, and the other customers present, were wonderfully welcoming, friendly and cordial, especially when interacting with our two sons (3 years old, and 7 months old), who thankfully behaved themselves the entire time (mostly because they were asleep just about the entire time, but hey...a win is a win)! If sake is your thing, then for Heaven's SAKE, don't sleep on WASAKE, as our kids did!vvWASAKE Sake Experience was an awesome find my wife discovered while we were out wandering through Asakusa. Visited the Wasake Tasting Experience in Asakusa and it was incredible. The shop itself is beautiful, with a calm, welcoming vibe. On the screen they show the sake-making process, which adds to the atmosphere. The system is really fun — you get a set of tokens to try different sakes from little vending-style machines, each with descriptions in English so you know the flavor profile. The staff were so kind and helpful, guiding us through rare and unique bottles. Highlights: • Strawberry sake 🍓 • Plum sake from Kanagawa • Kiwi sake 🥝 • Sweet & sour yuzu sake 🍋 • A rich, aged 10-year-old koshu • Plus some creamy and unusual ones I’d never tried before. They even had an AI tablet that picks a sake for you based on your mood — such a playful touch. Overall, 10/10 experience. Relaxing, fun, and unforgettable. Left wanting to take home half the shop.

What an amazing experience! Very welcoming to us tourists. Bo was great with sharing the history of sake, how it's made, and is a great conversationalist. 100% recommend this sake tasting experience! Also close to other shops!

The staff explains everything, and the atmosphere is stylish but never snobbish. Everything you need to explore Japanese sake comfortably and with real curiosity. I think it’s a real place for testing a lot of different sake.

May 11, 2025 I recently joined a sake tasting workshop in Asakusa, and it was a fantastic experience. The session offered a deep dive into the history, brewing process, and regional varieties of sake. The host was knowledgeable, engaging, and spoke excellent English, which made the whole experience accessible and fun. We tasted around six different types of sake, from crisp dry varieties to fruity, aromatic ones, each paired with small snacks to highlight the flavors. I left with a newfound appreciation for sake and some great tips on how to choose the right one. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore Japanese culture in a hands-on, enjoyable way!
