Chiricahua National Monument & Cave Creek Canyon Tour: A Journey Through Arizona’s Wonderland of Rocks

Along Echo Canyon, visitors encounter impressive Civilian Conservation Corps engineering that helped make the trail accessible, blending human craftsmanship with rugged natural scenery. The journey continues along Hailstone Trail, where desert yucca, agave, and cactus thrive on sunlit slopes, offering both ecological insight and sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding rock formations.

The ascent along Ed Riggs Trail leads back toward Massai Point, rewarding hikers with expansive vistas across the monument’s unique landscape. Frequent stops along the route allow participants to photograph the dramatic terrain and fully appreciate the scale and texture of this extraordinary geological environment.

The return journey expands the experience beyond the monument, crossing the Chiricahua Mountains into Cave Creek Canyon—often called the “Yosemite of Arizona” for its biodiversity and scenic grandeur. After a lunch break at Portal Peak Lodge Store & Café, the tour continues to the Chiricahua Desert Museum in Rodeo, New Mexico, where visitors explore exhibits featuring regional art, artifacts, and live reptiles including rattlesnakes, Gila monsters, and other desert species.
