Martin took me on a guided fly fishing trip back in September when I was on vacation in Ireland. He was a great communicator throughout the booking process, responding to my email and then hopping on a call with me on Whatsapp to answer all the questions I had. I was travelling so I didn't have any gear but Martin had everything covered and I was able to use his fly rod and reel as well as borrow a set of waders and boots. We went to this beautiful estate to fish in the picturesque Irish countryside. Martin is a great teacher, you can tell he is very knowledgeable but more importantly he is patient and encouraging with his students. As a total beginner to fly fishing I learned the basics of Spanish nymphing and was able to catch 7 fish that day. Overall it was a ton of fun and I would recommend Martin for anyone visiting Ireland and interested in fishing while they are there.
My son arranged a day of fly fishing for us, guided by Martin from Ireland Anglers Fly Fishing School in mid June, to learn the euro nymphing technique on a river west of Dundalk. It was a most enjoyable and informative day on the river. Martin is very personable, has exceptional patience and is a knowledgeable instructor who is able to convey the complexities of using the rod and explaining the best placement of the nymph or fly in the stream. It was a great experience and by the end of the day I came away a better fly fisherman, and I look forward to putting this new found knowledge to the test in my home Canadian rivers and streams. I would highly recommend Martin as a guide and teacher.
