During our wedding week in Tuscany, one of the highlights for us was a private wine tasting at the borgo we stayed at led by Klajdi, our planner’s husband and an incredibly talented sommelier. Having gotten to know Klajdi during the wedding planning process, we already knew we were in wonderful hands….but the evening still went above and beyond anything we could have imagined. Neither of us, nor any of our family and friends, are very experienced with wine, but Klajdi made it so approachable and fun. He walked us through each glass with passion, knowledge, and patience, weaving in the history of Tuscany and the stories behind the wines in a way that kept everyone engaged. What could have felt overwhelming instead felt warm, welcoming, and celebratory… like sharing an evening with a good friend who just happens to know everything about wine. The setting was magical, the wines were excellent, but it was Klajdi’s generosity and ability to connect with people that made it truly unforgettable. For us, it wasn’t just a tasting….it became one of those once-in-a-lifetime memories with our loved ones that we’ll always treasure. We are so grateful to him for creating such a special experience during such an important week in our lives. I do not know where to start, the whole experience was truly amazing! Clydi picked us up in the morning from our hotel and from that moment we felt very comfortable as he was very friendly, knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. He encouraged us to ask questions, he took his time to explain, was very interesting with what he shared. Between each venue he pointed out places of interest, spoke about the area and the culture. We have been on previous wine tours but never came away understanding and having as much knowledge of the process from beginning to end, the importance of wine pairing and the history behind it all. We were introduced to the owner of an olive oil mill and his sons' to see how it is produced from tree to tin and sampled the extra virgin olive oil. We visited a local farm to learn about the making of cheese and sampled many of the varieties on offer. Clydi returned us to our hotel around 6 p.m. I would certainly recommend taking the day tour, well worth it!
