We had no idea what we were in for when we decided to show up here on our last day! We ended up spending about 5-6 hours walking around the complex getting awesome photos. We went on a day very few people were there. It felt very much like a convention center for Buddhism / cultural tourism… you can tell they are preparing the grounds to host thousands of people daily. We loved the ancient history part of the complex (the sites in the mountain). This may be a hot take, but I would recommend booking a night at the hotel in the complex so you can take your time exploring and finding the best photo spots! There are so many.

A very impressive pagoda, everything here is both massive and incredibly delicate. Highly suggest taking the ticket with electric car to get around. The complex is huge; even with the car, we spent over 3 hours exploring ( and we not even finish all the visit) because there is just so much to see. Also if you bought the combo ticket with the Trang A boat tour (the green wristband), you can get a 15-minute foot soak in a dedicated area! It was a short relax during our visit.

Bái Đính Pagoda Complex – a return after 15 years We visited Bái Đính again (january 2026) after a 15-year gap. In the meantime, the former construction site has calmly transformed into a truly, almost comically massive complex. Monumental, unapologetic, and very clearly designed for mass tourism — and yet, somehow, it still has its charm. The corridors lined with arhats make for a surprisingly pleasant walk, the Buddha pavilions are genuinely impressive, and the 13-storey pagoda, nearly 100 meters high, is a real highlight. After a long time, this was the first viewpoint I genuinely enjoyed, rather than merely tolerated. Yes, it’s big. Yes, it’s ambitious. Yes, it occasionally feels like Buddhism met a megaproject consultant. But it works. I’ll happily come back in another 15 years. They’re still building — by then, it might even be finished.

We visited this place on a weekday so there were not many visitors. We decided to walk (instead of booking the electric car) which I can recommend since the highlight was to walk through the beautiful landscape between the Pagoda and temples. This way you can enjoy the green surroundings, the quietness of the place and some fresh air. We did not enter each place but picked some highlights and enjoyed it. A good option to spend an afternoon.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Spiritual City: Bai Dinh Pagoda is Unforgettable Bai Dinh Pagoda is not just a temple; it is a monumental testament to Vietnamese Buddhism and a genuinely awe-inspiring spiritual city. I cannot recommend this destination enough—it is a solid five-star experience that seamlessly blends immense scale with profound tranquility. The moment you arrive, the sheer size and grandeur of the New Pagoda complex are breathtaking. It holds numerous Asian and Vietnamese records, including the Largest Gold plated Buddha Statue and the Longest Corridor of Arhat Statues (featuring 500 beautifully unique figures!). Walking along this corridor, you feel a deep sense of history and spiritual contemplation. What makes it so special is the blend of the old and the new. While the new complex is magnificent, you can also explore the Ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda, hidden on the hillside. This older, more intimate space—including sacred caves and grottoes—offers a quiet, thousand-year-old connection to the roots of Vietnamese Buddhist worship. The architecture is majestic, using local materials and featuring traditional curved roofs, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Ninh Binh limestone mountains. The atmosphere is peaceful and meditative, making it a perfect place for reflection, regardless of your faith. Bai Dinh Pagoda is a true pilgrimage site and a must-see cultural wonder in Vietnam. Be sure to dedicate at least half a day to fully appreciate its immense beauty and scale.
