There were a few things that stood out for me at this Chateau that we visited for a tasting. The passion and love of the family for the terroir and their ethos and approach - Organic, natural, chemical-free, lower yield to concentrate flavours, etc. But also, we were taken to the vines and the annual process of managing the vines and harvesting the grapes was explained, then to the cellar where the winemaking process was explained, finished with a great tasting of bubbles, Chenin and four Cab Francs. A real education, fascinating, and the Chateau is beautiful.
Lovely family run Chateau! The owners were friendly, gracious and very knowledgeable. I admire their commitment to organic farming practices. Highly recommend their picnic in the vineyard experience, it was a perfect way to spend our Saturday afternoon!
Warm welcome, followed by a bit of history about the gorgeous chateau owned by the family for 400+ years, then the vineyard and the cave. Learned about the wine and winemaking process. (My husband and I have both done wine tours in Tuscany and this one topped it by far) Following the tour we had a lovely tasting with Sebastian, accompanied by Biscuit, the handsomest chateau cat, (who took his job very serious). We then had picnic which was originally supposed to be outdoors in the vines but due to the rain, was under a patio space and was perfect, consisting of a lovely assortment of cheeses, a baguette, and meats with salad. This was the best way to spend a day in the Loire Valley. We highly recommend booking!!
