Such an unforgettable aurora night safari experience! The entire tour was wonderfully organised, and our guide David truly made the night special. He was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, sharing fascinating stories, helping us take great photos, and always alerting us whenever the aurora became stronger. The little details really mattered — the hot chocolate and campfire kept us cosy outdoors, and having a bus on standby nearby was a thoughtful touch, giving us a warm alternative whenever the cold got too intense. I rented a 4wd car for the last week of 2025, the best price/quality ratio I could find. Although the Subaru I got was not brand new, it was very reliable the whole time. The office was 10 minutes from the airport, the office organized a shuttle that ran every 20-30 minutes, which was also absolutely great. I recommend it to everyone!

I chose northern lights based on the services stated online and the competitive price. I did appreciate the fact that they are open 24/7 so I could pick up the car at 2:00 a.m. I paid for the FULL-crossover Subaru XV, but was offered a Suzuki Vitara, which is a SMALL crossover. I argued about it, but nothing. Eventually, I pointed out that the check engine light was on so they finally gave in and gave me a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross plug-in hybrid. I was told they were not providing the charging cables, so I believe the hybrid system simply used up more gas, because the engine is constantly charging the batteries that I believe are almost dead since the battery power levels never rised. It ran about 10 km/liter! The discount key they give you is a joke done it saves you 0.14% and most times did not seem to be accepted. When I returned the car they quickly took it away and did not go over it with me. They did not provide a printout stating the car was returned in good conditions. Instead, they say a printout meant that they found new damage and I would be charged for it. That's shady business. Indeed, the next day I did get an electronic revision card stating they had found 3 more chips and dents, which I could not argue now since the car already had a dozen dents and several windshield chips, which could not be easily recorded on camera in the dark at 2:00 a.m. Fortunately, those were in areas covered by the platinum insurance. Also, online it states they have 24/7 ROAD ASSISTANCE, but they don't specify that's not included in the insurance and if you need it you may be charged hundreds of euro for it. In the end, I was fortunate enough to have a safe ride, notwithstanding the rattling sounds the exhaust and breaks produced at the pick up and during the travel.

Overall awesome experience. We booked Suzuki Jimny 2018 with a roof tent, but the company upgraded the car to Dacia Duster 2023 - it was in good condition, with bigger tires, pretty comfortable for Iceland, especially for F-roads. The tent was also great, spacious and comfortable. The stuff was friendly and helpful.

I have booked a 4X4 with tent top and the car they give me with rested front hood and not full tank gass. Due to the wind I wasn’t comfortable to drive this Jimmy and the car was making some noises. I have requested to replace this car to another 4x4 without the roof tent but the guy wasn’t happy to replace my car. He said they don’t have any car to replace and he give me another Suzuki 4X4 without the roof tent. That car’s windows didn’t work and he mentioned don’t pull the windows down. I got it with empty gas tank. Paid $1200 for Sunday to Sunday rent with full coverage and had to fill gas for both cars. My entire trip I had to worry about this car.

I rented a Suzuki Jimny with rooftop tent, advertised as a 2015 model — but later found through the VIN that it was actually a 2005 vehicle. The car was old, rusty, and had mechanical issues (even struggled to start some mornings). The dashboard was broken and uncomfortable, and the roof tent leaked in rain, forcing me to book a hotel instead. This vehicle is only suitable for short use near Keflavik Airport. I do not recommend it for long drives or road trips around Iceland. Very disappointed with the condition and service. Please check VIN and car quality before accepting any vehicle.
