Self Guided Paddling Tour (Beginner)

Spend a day exploring the waters of Voyageurs National Park with our self-guided canoe and kayak tours. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate paddler, our tours allow you to experience the beauty of the park at your own pace. Each route is carefully planned to highlight some of the most scenic and historic locations, giving you the chance to see the landscapes and waterways that historic voyageurs once traveled. Enjoy a full day on the water, learning about the local history at designated stopping points while paddling through calm lakes, bays, and channels.

All tours depart from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center, where your equipment will be dropped off and ready for use. Choose between a canoe or a kayak and receive the paddles and personal flotation devices needed for your adventure. Interpretive information at each stop provides insight into the park’s rich history, wildlife, and natural features. Self-guided tours are designed for day use only, and all equipment must be returned by the end of the day. This flexible adventure allows you to explore Voyageurs National Park at your own pace while enjoying the calm and scenic surroundings of northern Minnesota.
