Wonderful place for a visit. Gardens and rotundas are immaculately maintained, and there are many walking trails to suit different preferences (shorter or longer distances, more or less challenging terrain, etc). Car park fees are also very cheap. 5 stars, easy!

Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens WOW what a display of colour. The Rhododendron Trail was spectacular the vibrant display of colour and liter hundred of different colours. Magnolia Gully blooms were just getting started a great variety of blooms The main lake was alive with bird life. We had such a great time the trails up and down the hull never seemed to both us. Well done everyone who maintains these gardens.

This is the second time I have been on this tour. The transport was luxurious, the driver was very knowledgeable and I love the Adelaide city and Hills tour. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

We were advised 9:05am pick up on booking. The day before they tried to upsell us to the full day tour saying most people are n our bus were on the full day. I declined. The evening before our pick up time was changed to 8:25am. We hurried around to get breakfast before pick up to receive a text at 8:17am telling us our pick up was delayed until 9:05am. At 8:59am I get a phone call from the driver shouting at me asking where I was. I advised him of the communication and told him to watch his tone. We arrived at the coach and showed him the information; he apologised. On the coach all but one couple were doing the half day tour so the upsell effort was a total scam. On the way to Hahndorf Mt Lofty was covered in low cloud with no visibility; the driver insisted on taking us making us get off the bus in the rain to go to the lookout. I refused. In Hahndorf you were dropped off and left. The return driver was late but saved the day agreeing to return via Mt Lofty now the cloud was gone.

We had a wonderful time exploring the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden. By chance, we arrived just as a free guided walking tour was starting, and it turned out to be the highlight of our visit. Our guide, volunteer Henry Krichauff, was knowledgeable, engaging, and truly inspiring — incredibly fit and active at his age. The gardens themselves are beautifully maintained, vibrant, and full of scenic walking trails that make for a relaxing day out. Parking is also convenient and affordable, with full-day parking available for just $4.40. A peaceful and enriching place to spend a few hours or even a whole day.

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is truly one of Adelaide’s hidden gems. The gardens are beautifully maintained and offer something special in every season — from the vibrant autumn leaves to the colourful spring blooms. The walking trails are well-marked, and there’s so much to explore, whether you want a gentle stroll or a more challenging hike. I loved wandering through the different sections, especially the cool-climate plants and the fern gullies — it feels like you’re walking through a fairytale forest at times! The views across the Adelaide Hills are stunning, and there are plenty of peaceful spots to sit and have a picnic. It’s a fantastic place for photographers, families, or anyone who just wants to escape the city for a while and reconnect with nature. The only tip is to wear good walking shoes — some paths can be quite steep. And bring a jacket, as it can be cooler up there. Overall, I highly recommend Mount Lofty Botanic Garden — it’s a perfect day out for nature lovers and a beautiful reminder of how special the Adelaide Hills are.
