Wish there was a bit more crowd. Felt secluded and lonely. And a bit scary because even at 10 am there was nobody else in sight. Caves are a work of art. Loved the location. Must be an Amazing spot in monsoon because of the waterfall.
Located at a distance of approximately 20 km from kannad Drive time from ajanta is 2 hr 2 mins and from ellora approx 40-50 mins After reaching, the last 400 m is a kaccha road There's a hike down for approx 450 m And you'll be greeted by a huge waterfall in monsoon, however it appears dried up in December It's apparently the oldest buddhist cave center near aurangabad, dating to the himayan times. Though declared a monument of national importance, it lies neglected It has wonderful paintings in a large prayer hall. Few small chaityagruhas are seen around. There is no facility for food water nearby, so it is advised to carry your own snacks and water
Pitalkhora Caves are 17 km from Kannada (Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar) and the road is bad in some places. There is a Gautala Sanctuary outpost near the cave. They charged an entry fee of Rs 200 but did not give a receipt. We were told that the machine is closed and is being charged. There is a small space for parking vehicles. If a large number of tourists come, it is insufficient. From the parking to the cave, you have to descend about 250 steps. At the end of the steps, there is a stream of water coming from between two mountains. There is a rock there. Algae forms in the damp areas, so if you slip and get hurt badly, you can get permanent injuries. Therefore, tourists should avoid stepping on the damp areas while walking through the rocky areas. Since there is a stream of water, small children should be careful. The caves are Buddhist caves and you can see sculptures and paintings there. It is clear that an attempt has been made to deliberately destroy the sculptures. This cave is a great place for tourists and scholars.
