Beautiful park with plenty of animals. We’ve really enjoyed the scenery and green trees as well. It’s chill with not so many visitors so we could enjoy the silence most of the time and met just a few cars outside of the lodges

We took a short flight ✈️ from Zanzibar (ZNZ) to Mikumi National Park, which was about an hour — super convenient for a day trip! The flight itself was scenic, flying over the turquoise Indian Ocean 🌊 and into the golden plains of Tanzania. Upon landing at the small airstrip inside the park 🛬, our private safari guide greeted us with a warm smile and a sturdy 4x4 ready to explore. 🍳 Breakfast stop: We started with a nice breakfast near the park entrance, surrounded by nature and the sounds of birds 🐦 — a peaceful way to begin the day before the adventure started. 🚙 The Safari Experience: Mikumi National Park is often called the “Little Serengeti” because of its open grasslands and abundance of wildlife. It’s the fourth largest park in Tanzania, covering about 3,230 square kilometers, and is home to elephants 🐘, lions 🦁, giraffes 🦒, zebras 🦓, hippos 🦛, and countless antelopes. We were lucky enough to see elephants grazing with their calves and herds of zebras crossing the dirt roads — absolutely magical moments 😍. Our guide prepared a delicious picnic-style lunch inside the park, which felt surreal eating with giraffes visible in the distance. ⚠️ The Downside: One issue we noticed was the lack of proper communication between safari drivers and rangers regarding animal sightings. There’s no shared system or updates about where animals have been spotted, so a lot of time is wasted driving in circles 🚗💨 trying to find them. It’s a bit frustrating when you’re on a short one-day safari and want to make the most of your time. 🌅 Final Thoughts: Overall, Mikumi is a stunning and peaceful park, ideal for those who want a real safari experience without the heavy crowds of Serengeti or Ngorongoro. The park’s proximity to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar makes it a great choice for a quick wildlife getaway 🐾. ✅ Highlights: Short and scenic flight from Zanzibar Private safari with breakfast & lunch included Great variety of animals and beautiful scenery ❌ Cons: Poor communication about animal locations leading to time wasted ⭐️ Rating: 4/5 A truly memorable safari day filled with wildlife, adventure, and breathtaking landscapes — just wish they improved coordination between guides!

We had a one day safari experience that was AMAZING! Dont miss it! Our guide was awesome and we saw ao many animals in one day! Highly recommended. The booking was made through Ally Shafin and cost 1400$ for family of 4. (Flight, day trip, lunch and hotel transports)

I recently had the privilege of joining the 1-Day Fly-In Safari to Mikumi National Park from Zanzibar with Hola Africa, and it was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfectly organized, seamless, and stress-free. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our guide, Aristides, whose professionalism, knowledge, and passion for wildlife made the experience outstanding. He went above and beyond to ensure we had the opportunity to see as many animals as possible, carefully tracking and explaining their behaviors while making sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged throughout the journey. Thanks to Aristides’ dedication, we were able to witness lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and so much more in their natural habitat. Every moment felt special and authentic, never rushed, and always filled with valuable insights. His enthusiasm and expertise transformed what could have been just another safari into a truly educational and memorable adventure. I wholeheartedly recommend Hola Africa and especially Aristides to anyone looking for an exceptional safari experience in Tanzania. This was without a doubt one of the best travel experiences I have ever had.

How any one can give less than 5 stars is a wonder to me. This place is a natural paradise. So many animals. Something for everyone. After we saw all the big animals I asked to see some birds. I was not disappointed. The guide we had around the park was amazing. Remember this is not a zoo. These are wild animals in their wild habitat.
