Location location location is what this place has going for it. Rooms are rustic, to put it kindly, but clean & comfortable. The view from the room is incredible. Staff is friendly and professional. Food was not great.

Nice Serena experience. We arrived late at night, perfectly missing the sunset on the lake Ngorongoro. But the view from our room is still stunning. Room is very clean and comfortable, pebble decorative walls along the whole property is very special. Highly recommended

We stayed in Serena Ngorongoro for two nights. The lodge is located on the crater rim and the location is incredible. Our room had a balcony with a view to the crater which was honestly out of the world. The room itself is also quite good, and we appreciated the small touches like hot water bottles in the evening to warm ourselves up as we obviously did not expect Ngorongoro to be as cold as it was (we didn't do our research). However we felt massively let down in the food department. To start with the staff in the restaurant were incredibly rude. The rest of our Kenya-Tanzania trip we had some incredible hospitality, but Serena Ngorongoro was such a stark difference that it left a really poor taste. Speaking of poor taste - the dinner service is atrocious. Please note that your clientele is not entirely made up of western people who want to eat the food they get in their countries. Firstly the service is an a la carte order with minimal choices, secondly the food is actually extremely bland and very small in quantity, thirdly where are the Tanzanian/Swahili food options? We also had the misfortune of having their picnic lunches on two days which was so little food, and obviously very bland as well. For the prices this lodge charges we were expecting way more, which we got in the locations we stayed at.

We stayed one night on the rim of the crater, and the view was absolutely to die for. The rooms were quaint with a lovely patio area, perfect for soaking in the scenery. While the hotel’s overall layout felt a bit disjointed, the views more than made up for it. Check-in was smooth, and service for our room was excellent. Dinner, however, was chaotic, the service was the worst we experienced during our time in Tanzania. That said, there was a solid variety of food options, even if the quality was just okay. Despite the dinner experience, the stay itself was wonderful thanks to the incredible location, beautiful rooms, and unforgettable views.

Fabulous hotel with amazing views. Staff all very helpful and arranged for seats, for us, in the garden. Rooms immaculate. The hot water bottle at night was a lovely touch. Lunch, especially, impressive.
