It wasn’t just a ship; it felt like a floating city, a piece of engineering and history resting on the water. Seeing it for the first time was strangely moving. The scale, the precision, the quiet authority of it — all of it made the harbour feel alive with stories I didn’t yet know. After hours on the Channel, the sight of that ship marked the transition from sea to land in a way that felt almost symbolic, as if the journey had delivered me not just to a port, but to a place shaped by centuries of maritime strength. It’s the kind of image that stays with you long after the ferry docks: the grey hull, the angled deck, the sense of purpose built into every line. A first encounter with an aircraft carrier is not something you forget.
Nice modern cruise port facility. You will be taken a few hundred meters by shuttle bus between the ship and the terminal building. This is where Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady was docked. Free shuttle busses right outside the building to/from Gunwharf Quays shopping area right across from the sports fields.
