Amazing viewpoint highly recommend a visit. Stunning views. It was very windy and cold when we went but still worth the trip.

The views every direction from atop this plateau are amazing. To the west you can see miles and miles of black beaches. Looking northeast (at least in winter) were beautiful snow-capped mountains. The view of Dryhólaey is iconic but not the main appeal, in my opinion, of coming up here. The road up is windy with steep drop offs - more nerve-wracking on the way back down.

A very famous spot, the parking was overcrowded when we got there. You have a great view from that height. The parking will soon be managed by parka, there are at the moment no payment machines on site (I hope they put some there), so you have to pay on their app (didn't work for us).

Beautiful overlook of the Endless Black Sand Beach. Small parking lot. Saw a few puffins on the ledges in the distance. You can walk all the way to the lower parking lot... but its a hike to get up.

Iceland’s coastal landscapes are legendary, but few places capture the raw, untamed beauty of the island like Dyrhólaey. Nestled between dramatic cliffs and the roaring North Atlantic, this coastal gem is a stunning showcase of Iceland’s volcanic soul and natural wonder. The moment you arrive, you’re greeted with windswept cliffs, towering sea stacks, and the endless rhythm of crashing waves. It feels otherworldly—like standing on the edge of the earth. The contrast between the black sand beaches and the churning turquoise water is simply mesmerizing. If you visit during summer, the area is teeming with puffins nesting on the cliffs—an added treat for wildlife lovers. And during winter, the low light and moody skies create an atmosphere that’s equally haunting and beautiful. Whether you’re hiking along the trails, pausing to take in the views, or just sitting in quiet awe of nature’s power, this place leaves a deep impression. It’s not crowded, not commercialized—just pure, untouched Iceland. Bring a windbreaker, a camera, and a sense of adventure. This spot isn’t just a highlight of Iceland—it’s one of the most stunning places you’ll ever experience.
