A nice airport but should have a larger waiting area and cafe as you can barely move when a large plane is here

New terminal …ISAVIA forgot to design security, little room for pax in departur, ok duty free, no room for passport control, forgot to design all space for staff, no room for arrivals/baggage and for people picking up arrivals you need to stay outside in the freezing weather, too small to handle ONE small international A/C like A320 …staff is polite and nice and the only reason you dont loose control of your emotions. Worst designed terminal ever …which is odd because its new. …and I am trying to make this review positive. However …Akureyi is bt far the best destination in Iceland ;)

Neat, compact small airport. Cafe, small duty free shopping area and toilets. Buses and taxis just outside the building;also car dropping/pick up area. Plenty of parking. Only a very short drive to the main town of Akureyri. Efficient airport with all easy accessible facilities.

Located about 3km from the town center, the Akureyri airport, with only the one runway, is very small for an international airport but is really a pleasant surprise. It's well organised and the bistro in the passenger terminal offers food, snacks and drinks at relatively inexpensive prices. Duty free shopping wasn't that exciting.
