Visually stunning but also overpowering! An ode to design and craftsmanship. You can easily spend a day in the Palace and the grounds. You'll need to take multiple breaks so you can appreciate the craftsmanship. The Palaces of the Nasrid rulers are the centerpiece of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, and represent the pinnacle of Islamic architecture in late medieval Iberia. Built primarily during the 13th and 14th centuries by the Nasrid dynasty, the palaces were designed as royal residences and administrative centres, combining defensive features, luxurious living spaces, and ceremonial halls.

The Nasrid Palaces in Granada are a stunning example of Islamic architecture from Spain’s medieval era. They perfectly capture the essence of Andalusian design, which you’ll notice throughout the region. The intricate courtyards, or patios, are an integral feature of these palaces, creating open spaces that invite light and tranquility. Unlike the opulent style of neighboring Western European architecture, which often emphasizes grandeur and luxury, the Nasrid Palaces evoke a sense of calm, serenity, and harmony. Walking through these spaces feels peaceful and almost meditative—a true testament to the artistry and philosophy behind Islamic architecture.

Exquisite opulence - Stunning! The Alhambra and the palaces deserve more than a day to admire and capture the abundance of exquisite beauty in every single area! Can only imagine how splendid and luxurious the life of the people who inhabited it must have been like 🧡 We will visit again ✨

The Nasrid Palaces in Granada are absolutely breathtaking and truly a must see! The scale of the architecture is astonishing - a mixture of grand, extremely intricate, and full of history. I would recommend paying a little more and booking a guided tour (I did not do this, so I don’t know about the full history of the place, and regret not booking a guided tour). Regardless, the detailed carvings, vibrant tiles, peaceful courtyards/gardens, and city views from the palaces are beautiful (lots of photo opportunities)! You can easily spend hours wandering the palaces and still feel like you haven’t seen it all. I would highly recommend visiting!

So so lovely. Visited on a lovely hot day. We bought tickets in advance. Make sure you get there for the time stated on your ticket. You may have to wait in a queue but if your not in the queue for your time you may not get in. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE YOUR PASSPORT! No entry without. Would highly recommend you pay for a guide to explain what your looking at. It's lovely, but will mean more with an explanation. It's amazing to see the restoration that has taken place on the site. There a board that shows you what it looked like in the 1920's. Not and expensive visit. A day well spent.
