Granada should be ashamed for its bizarre strategy to force tourists in guided tours! A proposal for you: you could simply raise the tickets prices instead of the current practice. I love andalucia, but this is an ugly act!

If you want to purchase last minute tickets, things you ought to know: - Only buy tickets from the official website "Patronato de la Alhambra" - if you Book a visit on Viator, Get a guide etc. It'll be more expensive AND it might get cancelled last minute In my experience, a certain amount of Tickets get released almost every day for the next day, even for dates that show already sold out on the website. Keep in mind these instructions worked for me but won't necessarily work for everyone. Follow these steps: - Create an account on the official website beforehand during the day - in my experience, tickets get released at 10 PM (Granada time) - Log in with your account about 15 minutes before 10 PM - keep all visitors IDs and ID codes at hand, you will need them later and you will only have a handful of minutes to enter them - Select the type of ticket you want (if you want it all, it's "Alhambra General") BEFORE 10 PM, e.g. 2 minutes beforehand. Don't do it too early because your session will expire after 30 minutes and you need your session to last as long as possible - Solve de Captcha (I'm not a robot) and access step 1 (out of 4) - from the date selection screen, all dates will probably show sold out - refresh the page as frequently as possible - the website will struggle to refresh the page. This is because a lot of people are refreshing at the same time and thus burdening the website. This is normal, keep refreshing - at some point (hopefully) you'll see the next day's date becoming available - select the date, type of ticket, number of visitors and move on - now you have your tickets in your cart and they will stay in the cart for the remainder of the session (about 30 minutes as explained above) - when you click on continue, the website will refresh and it will notice you're unable to continue. A message at the bottom will say the tickets you selected are no longer available despite being in your cart. - this is normal. Since multiple people put tickets in their cart simultaneously, there are more tickets in carts than actual tickets available. - you will be stuck until people start quitting or their sessions expire, which will free up some tickets until some become available - keep clicking on continue, disregard the message saying tickets are no more available, and make sure your session lasts longer than other people's -- until you get through to the final steps and are able to pay Review: overall a ghastly ticket purchase experience. The ticket office is basically just there for show because the only viable way to buy the tickets is the website. So don't bother going to the ticket office. On the other hand, the staff was very helpful at giving info about how to get the tickets. However the information given was incorrect since they stated tickets get released at midnight.

My issue is not the difficulty of getting tickets. In fact, when we called the office, a gentleman had his best efforts to inform and advise us about getting tickets, he was so kind and helpful. We ended up getting separate tickets for 2 different days to Nasrid palaces with my partner, so I was going to wait for my partner for a while outside the gates. We realised he forgot to give me my charger, so I asked the lady standing before the gates, can I take my charger from him? She suggested that my partner should get out and give me, lol sure, he would have lost his ticket. I tried to explain that I’m not going to go in, he is going to hand me the thing over the gate, which was 5-10 metres away. She rudely said I need a ticket, to be handed a charger cable over the gates. A big W to her, she saved the Alhambra that day 👏

Important Tip for Anyone Buying Tickets Online: After multiple attempts to purchase tickets online for hours and chatting with customer service at least twice, I still couldn’t complete the transaction. The system either seems intentionally difficult for individual buyers or is overwhelmed by bots used by resellers who grab tickets and sell them at 2–3 times the price. Here’s my advice (which I tried after talking to a tourist info office): Skip the frustration; go directly to the ticket office in person. Bring your ID (or passport if you’re a foreigner) and buy your tickets there. I was able to get same-day tickets without any problem. I give 3 stars only because of the kindness of the people at the booth. The website deserves below zero.

I’ve been travelling throughout Europe with my father that requires a wheelchair and we know that accessibility isn’t the strongest suit in most of the places, but we are usually met with friendly people that are always willing to help, which is not the case here. We didn’t had a place close to the ticket office to park and when briefly parking on the street to disembark him we were met by a tour bus driver that was shouting with us and saying it was going to call the police. After that it was just downhill, with very unpleasant and unhelpful works throughout the whole visit.
