Our journey through Serbia concludes with an unforgettable visit to Uvac Nature Reserve, a breathtaking natural wonder tucked away in the country's southwest corner. This protected area is renowned for its winding emerald river, dramatic limestone cliffs, and diverse wildlife. The star attraction is undoubtedly the Uvac River itself. Its mesmerizing meanders carve a serpentine path through the landscape, creating a series of tight loops known as "The Uvac Meanders." From the viewpoints high above, the river's bends form a stunning natural masterpiece that's straight out of a painter's imagination. The reserve is also a crucial habitat for the rare Griffon vulture. We were lucky enough to spot several of these majestic birds soaring on thermals high above the canyon. With wingspans reaching up to 3 meters, they were an impressive sight against the backdrop of blue sky and white cliffs.

We went to the top of the mountain to enjoy the view. Google maps and Waze guided us through a terrible off-road road, where we had to pave our own road with stones and pieces of wood, because the holes and ditches were so bad that it was impossible to drive through it. When we came back, we didn't want to use this road anymore and thought, whatever happens, let's go around. However, it turned out that there is a new asphalt road under construction, which neither Waze nor Google maps showed. So if the app wants to direct you off the asphalt road to an off road path, don't go and just drive along the asphalt road, it will lead you right to the free parking lot at the top of the hill. From there, you need to walk a little along the road to the viewing platform. I recommend wearing closed shoes as there were a lot of sharp rocks in some places.

Pure nature. The lungs of Serbia. A beautiful national park with a large number of hiking and mountain trails. Lots of content for rest and recreation for you, your children or your friends. A large number of viewpoints with magnificent views. My children especially like this clean mountain air, they panted. Come and see for yourself. All recommendations. Let's protect nature.

An amazing place. Definitely worth a visit the boat ride through the canyon is especially breathtaking. If you’re comfortable to hike then hike to the top of the Gornje Lopiže peak to see some scenic beauty.

The truly unique and magnificent destination of southwestern Serbia where more and more visitors come. Untouched nature, caves, lakes, endemic plant and species and the last refuge of almost extinct birds - griffon vulture, are just some of the things you can see during a visit to this natural reserve. I definitely could sit on the hill and watch this beauty all day long. The griffon vulture eagles are so many so I couldn’t even count. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Serbia.
