This small circuit tour explores the most iconic temples of Angkor starting with Angkor Wat built in the early twelfth century under King Suryavarman II. This grand temple complex measures about three hundred thirty by two hundred sixty metres and features three main levels crowned by five towers symbolizing Mount Meru. Inside you will find extensive bas reliefs illustrating scenes from Hindu mythology and historic events from the kings reign offering a deep look into ancient Khmer culture. Angkor Wat stands as the national symbol of Cambodia and represents the spirit of the country appearing on the national flag and drawing visitors from around the world for its beauty scale and historical importance
The journey continues to Angkor Thom where you enter through the impressive South Gate and visit Bayon Temple known for its many stone faces carved into towers creating a unique and mysterious atmosphere. The temple galleries display detailed carvings of everyday life and historical scenes. The tour then moves to Baphuon Temple the Terrace of the Elephants the Terrace of the Leper King and the Royal Palace area each revealing more about the royal and ceremonial life of the Khmer Empire. The final stop is Ta Prohm a temple embraced by giant tree roots left largely in its natural state and widely recognized from the Tomb Raider film once serving as a Buddhist monastery and university during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries
