This two‑day tour takes you into the heart of Rwanda’s wild forests for an unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure that brings you face‑to‑face with some of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife. In Volcanoes National Park you will trek through lush montane forest in search of mountain gorillas, observing their playful interactions as young gorillas wrestle and tumble like athletes and mothers groom their young under the watchful eye of a protective silverback. Mountain gorillas are so rare that trackers give individual names to the groups and quickly recognize personalities as they adapt to human presence, making every encounter deeply personal and memorable. Spending time with these great apes in their natural habitat is considered one of the most transformative wildlife experiences anywhere on the continent.

Beyond the wilderness experience, this tour also offers cultural and historical immersion. You will enjoy a guided city drive around Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital, followed by a visit to a genocide memorial site that powerfully tells the story of the nation’s past through exhibits, photographs, documents, and personal accounts. This sobering experience provides meaningful context to Rwanda’s journey and complementing your time in the wild with reflection on human resilience and cultural heritage. From the forests of Volcanoes National Park to the heart of Kigali, this tour blends wildlife wonder and cultural depth for a rich and moving experience.

We had Simon as our driver/guide and had the most wonderful experience. Simon went above and beyond our expectations, making sure he got us onto the best trek to see the largest family of gorillas (Isimbi family, with biggest silverback and four babies). He truly cared about our time in Rwanda, making sure we were always happy and comfortable. We shared stories, laughed together and learnt so much about the local culture, challenging history and traditions. We would highly recommend Mist Safaris and specifically Simon for anyone looking for an authentic, safe and respectful driver/guide with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

We spent an unforgettable 3 days with our guide, Siboman from Mist safaris, starting in Kigali and heading into the wild beauty of Uganda. Trekking through the lush Mgahinga rainforest with our experienced guides, we came face-to-face with majestic mountain gorillas spending an hour with them, an experience beyond words and we will never forget. The following day, Mgahinga forest brought a different thrill as we tracked with our experienced guides playful golden monkeys through dense bamboo groves. Sibo was knowledgeable, patient, and made the entire journey smooth and safe. Every moment was well-organized, immersive, and packed with natural wonder. If you’re considering this trip—do it. It’s raw, real, and absolutely worth it.

Our driver Sibo took great care of us! He showed us around Kigali and drove us to our hotel near Volcanos Park to trek to see the Gorilla's and Golden Monkeys. We were so happy not to be driving with the crazy traffic. He took care of our every need! We would highly recommend him and Mist Rwanda Safari's for your trip!

Had THE best time gorilla trekking with Mist! Brian was incredibly patient and helpful with my numerous itinerary changes, and Fred took such good care getting me to Musanze and back, went above and beyond with ensuring I had a smooth experience. I opted for the one day trek and it did NOT disappoint. Absolutely incredible! If you’re on the fence, just do it! And do it with Mist 🙌🏾
