Zrmanja and Krupa rivers are among Europe’s most beautiful, featuring perfectly clear, warm waters, spectacular canyons, and magnificent waterfalls. These rivers are safe and easy enough for beginner canoeists but remain exciting thanks to their breathtaking scenery. As you paddle, you’ll spot many fish and birds and explore living travertine waterfalls, a unique karst phenomenon. The journey starts in Kastel Zegarski, just an hour from Zadar, where you'll quickly learn to handle sit-on-top kayaks before entering the canyon. After an hour of gentle rapids, and if conditions allow, you’ll visit the stunning Krupa waterfalls for a refreshing swim. The adventure continues with more waterfalls and rapids before concluding at Muskovci, where you can relax with a picnic or refreshments from a local restaurant.

No previous kayaking experience is needed for this trip, and even children aged 6 and above, accompanied by parents, are welcome to participate. We use stable, two-person sit-on-top kayaks that are easy and safe to navigate. All participants are equipped with a life jacket, helmet, paddle, and, in cooler weather, a long neoprene suit and rain jacket. Waterproof containers are provided for your personal items like cameras and drinks. We recommend bringing swimwear, a T shirt, water shoes, a towel, sunscreen, and sufficient drinking water. For colder weather, pack a long-sleeved shirt. The trip is designed to be safe, fun, and accessible to families and beginners alike.

The starting point, Kastel Zegarski, is easily reached from Zadar in about an hour by following signs for Smilcic Obrovac and continuing straight towards Kastel Zegarski . Activities include canoeing and swimming , with a moderate difficulty level. The excursion lasts around 4 to 5 hours, starting at 10:00 AM and ending by 3:00 PM. From May to October, weather conditions are generally ideal for outdoor activities, although it’s wise to bring rainwear just in case.
