Although we only stayed for a couple of nights, we had a wonderful stay at Bawe Island! This luxury hotel is fairly new and the rooms are beautifully decorated. The food was delicious and the staff made sure we felt very welcome. We were left pleasantly surprised at how quiet and peaceful the little island was - perfect for recharging your battery! Our stay at Bawe Island was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, the service was top class—even assisting with immigration at the airport to make the process seamless. The island is just a short 20-minute boat ride from Stone Town, yet feels like a private paradise. The resort strikes a perfect balance between exclusivity and activity, offering great facilities and plenty to do. We stayed in a Sunset Villa, which was spacious inside and out, with a beautiful outdoor bathroom, private garden, and pool—perfect for relaxing in your own space. Dining options are excellent with multiple restaurants to choose from, and having your own personal butler (ours was Anwar—fantastic!) added a personalised touch that made the stay even more special. It’s the small details—like having your name on your island bike—that set Bawe apart from other resorts. The beach is beautiful, the sunset views from the beach bar are breathtaking, and the watersports were a highlight of our trip. It’s also very family-friendly—our kids absolutely loved the kiddies club. A few things to note: it can get quite windy, and we’d recommend heating the main pool. The daily shuttle is via fibre boat and weather-dependent, so you may need to arrange your own transport for Stone Town day trips. That said, our stay was filled with memorable moments shared with family and friends, and we’d return in a heartbeat.
