Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend visiting Tarangire if your trip already includes the Serengeti or Ngorongoro. Compared to those parks, it feels far less impressive. The park seems to cater mainly to local groups and school trips, with a limited variety of wildlife and many baobab trees. We weren’t lucky enough to see any elephants, although some visitors mentioned sightings on their visits. Looking back, we regretted adding Tarangire to our itinerary and felt it would have been better to drive straight from Arusha to Ngorongoro instead.

So breathtaking, you will be in awe of all the animals and the beauty of nature. I am grateful we are allowed to experience such a wonderful drive through this park. You will see hundreds of wildlife and you will never forget the experience.

Plentiful baobabs and elephants. The entrance give you some pop quiz and lessons on bone structure of the animals. You can pick up an elephant bone to see how heavy an old bone of these magical creatures really are. Very open plain setting and you can get some close up shots of mainly elephants as they are the major occupants here.

A really good park. We only did a very short half day trip to the park, but we managed to get in 3 of the Big 5 so happy days & even if you get unlucky with the animals, the scenery is worth the visit alone.

One of the best national parks I have visited. Very wide variety of wildlife to see. They also have a picnic area somewhere within the park where you can take a break and enjoy a meal while watching elephants across the river bank.
