This full day Whale Route tour is a scenic coastal journey combining dramatic landscapes, charming seaside towns, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. Departing from Cape Town in the morning, the route winds along the coastline through Gordon’s Bay, Pringle Bay, and Betty’s Bay, offering sweeping ocean views and mountain backdrops. You will visit the beautiful Harold Porter Botanical Gardens and Fernkloof Nature Reserve, where indigenous fynbos and peaceful walking paths showcase the natural richness of the region. A drive past renowned wine estates and along iconic mountain passes adds to the visual experience.

The highlight of the day is time spent in Hermanus, one of the best land based whale watching destinations in the world. During whale season from August to November, Southern Right whales can often be seen close to shore as they breach, calve, and play in the shallow waters. Guests may also choose an optional whale watching boat trip for a closer encounter. The journey continues through the fertile Elgin region and over Sir Lowry’s Pass before returning to Cape Town in the early evening, completing a relaxed and nature focused day.
