Beautiful Views, but know it’s a Managed Environment If you are looking for a wild, natural safari, be aware that Aquila is more of a managed sanctuary/zoo safari. While it’s wonderful to see rescued animals up close, the feeding and constant game drives make it feel less like a natural habitat and more like a human-controlled environment. Pros: Efficient arrival and check-in. Rooms have all the essentials. Enjoyable food with plenty of options. Cons: Details: Restrooms were underwhelming and lacked basic amenities (cream/tissues). Some areas lacks that "luxury" feel you’d expect at this price. Simply things like scent or using fynbos from the area to enhance the experience. The Spa: The facility is stunning, but the treatment was poor. The therapists seemed untrained, with inconsistent pressure and a lack of spatial awareness around the massage table.

For Aquila Safari, you need to travel for about 3 hours from Cape Town to reach this place. The travel itself is nice with nice scenic views. We booked the early morning slot to visit the place. On reaching the place, you are taken to their breakfast place. Breakfast/Lunch is included in their package, as per the time slot. Dinning hall is quite spacious with multiple sitting areas offering outside view of Safari area through big windows. Surrounding garden is good. Breakfast itself was fine, having some reasonable variety. After breakfast we were taken to the open air jeep like vehicles which were there to take us to the Safari. Aa you are traveling in an open air vehicle, you need to take quite warm clothes, covering your head as well, as it was quite cold outside in the month of October. We proceeded to the Safari. Safari itself was below my expectations. Fewer animals and not so much variety. There was a loin enclosure, segregated from rest of the Safari. After long search we were able to spot 1 loin and 2 lioness very far on top of the cliff. It took around 2.5 hours inside the Safari itself. Nice experience if you have a spare day at Cape Town, as this is a whole day activity.

A Heartfelt, Once-in-a-Lifetime Family Experience We Will Treasure Forever From the moment we arrived, we were met with genuine warmth, kindness, and exceptional customer service. The facilities are beautiful, immaculate, and thoughtfully designed, making it easy for families to relax and feel comfortable while still being immersed in nature. Our daughter had the most amazing time. She absolutely loved seeing the animals up close and personal on the game drive, and the experience was handled so thoughtfully that she was engaged, excited, and comfortable throughout. She also adored her interactions with the staff, who were all so friendly and patient with her, making her feel special and welcome at every turn. The pool was a big highlight, and the buffet was exceptional, with an incredible selection and abundance of food that catered perfectly to our family and our little one. The game drive itself was unforgettable, and we would like to give special recognition to Ranger Josh, who was extremely informative, knowledgeable, and engaging. He interacted so naturally with both the younger and older guests, making sure everyone felt included, entertained, and educated throughout the drive. His passion and professionalism added tremendous value to the experience and made it even more memorable for our family. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sara, whose exceptional assistance in booking our accommodation made the entire experience seamless from the very beginning. Her professionalism, care, and attention to detail gave us complete confidence and peace of mind before we even arrived. A very special thank you goes to Timothy for his unbelievable customer service. His friendly nature, genuine warmth, and willingness to go above and beyond made such a difference to our stay. He was incredibly accommodating to our family and made us feel truly valued — he is truly a credit to Aquila. For a family like ours, who had saved for this experience, Aquila gave us far more than a safari — it gave us memories, joy, and moments we will carry with us for a lifetime. We cannot recommend Aquila Private Game Reserve highly enough and will forever be grateful for the care, kindness, and excellence we experienced.

I joined this private safari recently and overall it felt like one of the safer safari options in South Africa. The vehicle is a large, enclosed truck that seats around 10–20 people, with protective railings around the sides. Because of the size of the vehicle, being close to lions or elephants feels much safer, as the animals perceive the truck as a big “object” rather than individual humans. Compared to other safaris my friends have done, this one is definitely on the safer and less intense side. Some of my friends went on smaller open-air vehicles without railings, where they saw lions hunting or resting right next to the car, which created a much more thrilling, adrenaline-filled experience. Here, we saw only one male lion and three lionesses, all of them resting, so the overall feeling was calm and not very dramatic. The experience felt more like visiting a large, well-managed park rather than a wild, high-intensity safari. If you’re looking for a very safe and relaxed safari experience, this is a good option. But if you’re hoping for something more intense or exciting, other safaris might offer a wilder encounter.
