Standing before the Terracotta Army feels unreal. This vast underground army was created over 2,200 years ago to guard China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in the afterlife. Discovered by local farmers in 1974, it remains one of the greatest archaeological finds in human history. Each soldier was buried facing east, as if ready to defend the empire forever. What makes it even more mind-blowing is that no two warriors are exactly the same. From facial expressions and hairstyles to armor and ranks, every figure shows incredible craftsmanship. There are infantry soldiers, archers, generals, horses, and chariots — once brightly painted, though most of the colors faded over time. Experts estimate there are over 8,000 soldiers, yet many pits are still unexcavated. Seeing it in person really hits different. Photos don’t fully capture the scale, the silence, and the weight of history here. This wasn’t just a tomb — it was a statement of power, belief, and immortality. A reminder that even after two millennia, the legacy of the Qin Dynasty still stands strong beneath the soil of Xi’an.

Must visit place. Colossal scale terracotta warriors pits are very impressive. Very well run. Use Tram cars to reduce walking from entrance to pits. Recommend engaging a guide to fill in the history behind the awe inspiring displays. English speaking guides available. 3 pits opened for display, pit 1 has the most terracotta warriors unearth and displayed. Ticket include visit to Li Garden. Main attraction are scale model of 2 chariots on display. Supposedly made of gold. Very intricate. Worth visiting. Guide introduced us to a VR Interactive display and Warrior Reborn Show. Both require additional ticket charges. We chose the Warrior Reborn Show. Interesting show as spectators were guided to move between scenes setups. Advisable to reserve one whole day for this place. Plan to visit during the off peak season like we did.

Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum (秦始皇帝陵博物院) — A Must-Visit, Truly the 8th Wonder Visiting the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum is nothing short of breathtaking. This extraordinary site, often called the “8th Wonder of the World,” lives up to every bit of its reputation and more. Standing before the Terracotta Army, you immediately feel the weight of history, ingenuity, and ambition that shaped China over 2,000 years ago. The sheer scale and craftsmanship are astonishing—thousands of life-sized warriors, each with unique facial features, expressions, and armor, silently guarding China’s first emperor in perfect formation. It’s humbling to realize that these figures were created without modern technology, yet display remarkable realism and artistic sophistication. The museum itself is well organized and informative, with clear exhibits that guide visitors through the history of the Qin Dynasty, the unification of China, and the incredible archaeological discoveries made at the site. Walking through the massive pits, especially Pit 1, is an unforgettable experience that leaves you in awe of ancient engineering and vision. Beyond the Terracotta Army, the surrounding mausoleum area adds depth to the visit, helping you appreciate the emperor’s grand plan for the afterlife and his lasting impact on Chinese civilization. The site is spacious, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed for visitors from around the world. This is not just a museum—it is a journey back in time, a powerful reminder of human creativity and ambition on a monumental scale. Whether you’re a history lover or a first-time visitor to China, the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum is an absolute must-visit and truly deserving of its title as a tremendous 8th wonder of the world.

Interesting and well maintained exhibit. There are plenty of toilet for tourist and place kept clean. I recommend follow tour so you get knowledgeable tour guide to explain and provide historical background. As I understand the site was started 50 years ago, it was formerly a poor village, who now works for the deceased emperor , guiding and maintaining his museleum 2000 years after his death.

A must-visit landmark in Xi’an — the world-famous Terracotta Warriors site. You can easily take a Didi ride from downtown Xi’an for around 100 RMB. It’s highly recommended to book your entrance ticket in advance to avoid confusion at the gate, especially for foreign visitors. Official guides are available right at the entrance and can greatly enhance your visit with detailed historical explanations. Inside, you’ll find three main excavation pits open to visitors, along with a museum showcasing ancient weapons and artifacts discovered at the site. After finishing the tour, you’ll pass through a lively food street — perfect for lunch — before continuing to nearby Lishan Mountain, believed to be the actual tomb area of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Plan about 1–2 hours for the visit. It’s an unforgettable experience that perfectly combines history, culture, and the legacy of China’s first emperor.
