Beautiful Tramway & Great Experience Taking the tram in Sollers is a must do if you are staying on Palma. It is a historical experience and is quite unique in Spain, there are not that many cities left with a functioning tram. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it easily.

Our journey on the historic Palma to Soller train was a beautiful experience, and we were pleased to find the tram ticket to Soller port included. However, the return tram ride was severely marred by overcrowding and unpleasant behavior. The system seems unprepared for the volume of tourists. At 4 PM, with a 5 PM train to catch, the trams were packed. We witnessed what appeared to be a German tour guide directing his entire group onto the "long tram," after which we were advised to board a smaller one. A tram employee assured us it was okay to board despite the crowd. The situation quickly became stressful. Individuals from the aforementioned tour group became hostile, pushing us, using sarcasm, and calling us names. They continued this aggressive behavior towards other passengers on the tram. It was a shocking display of rudeness. This occurred in the first week of September, I can't imagine the chaos in peak summer months. The tram network clearly needs to operate more frequent services. My greatest sympathy goes to the kind tram staff who have to courageously manage such difficult situations with demanding tourists daily.

Many people think the old train goes directly from Palma to Port de Sóller, but that’s not correct — the train only goes Palma ↔ Sóller. From Sóller to Port de Sóller you take the tram. We also had this misunderstanding at first. We bought our tickets directly on the tram (10 € per person, one way), so no need to go to the ticket window. The ride itself was very nice, with charming views, and it also makes a few stops along the way. A bit touristy, but definitely worth doing once for the experience.
