Begin your 3-day classical tour of Greece with an early morning pickup from most central Athens hotels. Travel in an air-conditioned minibus through the Greek countryside along the national highway towards the majestic Peloponnese peninsula. On the way, stop at the impressive Corinth Canal to admire and photograph this remarkable engineering feat. Continue through scenic hillsides and coastal towns until you reach Epidaurus, famous for its 4th-century BC theater, renowned for its exceptional acoustics and well-preserved structure. The tour then takes you to the picturesque seaside town of Nafplion, followed by the ancient Acropolis of Mycenae, the legendary home of King Agamemnon. Explore the Palace, cyclopean walls, the Treasure of Atreides, the Lion’s Gate, and the tomb attributed to Agamemnon before traveling to Olympia, where you will spend the night.
On the second day, visit the archaeological site of Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games dating back to 776 BC. Explore the altar, stadium, and museum, and learn about the chryselephantine statue of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Travel through the fields of Eliad and Achaia, crossing the modern Rio–Antirion suspension bridge, before arriving at Delphi for the night. On the third day, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Delphi, the navel of the ancient world, and learn about the Oracle of Delphi, a key figure in ancient Greek politics and religion. Visit the Delphi Museum to see masterpieces like the Bronze Charioteer before returning to Athens, arriving around 7 pm, concluding a journey through Greece’s most iconic classical landmarks, history, and culture.
