We arrived early in the morning aiming to catch the panda feeding time, but in reality it did not make a huge difference. The pandas were actively eating well into late morning, roughly until around 11am. While a few had already settled down to sleep, most were still moving about, eating, or interacting, so there was plenty to see even if you do not arrive right at opening. One downside in the early morning was visibility. On cooler, more humid mornings the glass enclosures fog up quite badly in some areas, making it difficult to see the pandas clearly. This was a bit frustrating, especially when you are trying to take photos or watch them up close. The layout and map could also be improved. The map is not very intuitive and it is easy to lose your bearings. I found myself constantly checking directions to avoid walking in circles or backtracking. Clearer signage or better wayfinding would significantly improve the experience. That said, the overall experience was still fantastic. The center is beautifully maintained, spacious, and you genuinely get to see a large number of giant pandas across different enclosures. There are also red pandas, which were a lovely bonus and just as entertaining to watch. I did hear about another, quieter panda base in Dujiangyan, about an hour and twenty minutes away. While it sounds appealing for those wanting a less crowded experience, the travel time felt too long for us. You could technically combine that area with visits to the nearby temple and the Dujiangyan irrigation system, but seeing pandas alone is easily a full day activity. Overall, despite a few logistical annoyances, this is an amazing conservation center and absolutely worth visiting if you are in Chengdu. Seeing so many pandas in one place is a memorable experience.

The Panda Base is extremely large, if you want to go whole this area, it will cost you at least a day. You can buy ticket on Trip with price around 7.5$ (not included shuttle bus). You can buy shuttle bus ticket at South gate of IFS Tower (Chungxi road), price around 1.6$ / route. You should take the first bus start at 7:30 am everyday to get to this base earliest as you can. That time visitors are not crowded, so you can meet and take photos with Pandas easily

Nice place for visit in Chengdu from children to adult. This place is huge, every parts of the park must travel by a park - bus. Each section have different things to vist. Panda stay every where in the park, you can walk and take picture with them very easy. They are all awake, eating bamboo from adult panda to baby panda. In this park they also have multiple of shop that visitor can buy goods and restaurant with panda theme.

A must-visit place in Chengdu The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a must-visit attraction if you are in Chengdu. The park is spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with a natural environment designed to suit the pandas. Seeing giant pandas up close is truly special, especially in the morning when they are more active and feeding. The walking paths are well organised, and there are clear signs in both Chinese and English, making it easy for visitors to navigate around the base. The base is not only a tourist attraction but also an important centre for panda conservation, research, and education. It is suitable for families, students, and anyone interested in wildlife and nature conservation. Tip: Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and to see the pandas at their most active.

This is gonna be a brutal review and if you want to know how to plan your day, read this: The park was huge, big and massive. The fee was ¥55 bookable with agencies. Another ¥30 for shuttle carts if you don’t wanna walk. The park was big and minimal and confusing direction. I chose to walk and manage to get out the park within 4 hours. Yes literally 4 hours of walking and marking around. You will see a lot of pandas. Most of them are sleeping. Like another zoo, but the main characters are panda. Red panda section was closed during my visit.

This is another must do activity in Chengdu. Booking tickets online was so much easier. Our agent in China was brilliant, communication good and process very simple. The research base itself was amazing. The pandas are so well cared for and in a phenomenal space. The park is spread out and has so many points of interest. Well worth the visit

Absolutely a must when in Chengdu. You have to go in the morning when the pandas are eating breakfast as later they are not very active. I was trying to book tickets on my own but they were all sold out for the morning slot on the website of panda base. This service was still able to get the tickets for the next morning - even if little pricier than the regular entry ticket - it was worth it to see the pandas in the morning, including the famous panda Huahua and panda babies.

Unique opportunity to see so many pandas and the grounds are nice with many stations to see. Busy during the national holiday but inside did not seem too bad. For sure get there early to see them being fed and active.

we stopped in Chengdu with a long transit. managed to catch the metro into the pandas which was great. had pre-book tickets that was Julius that we would make it. unbelievably busy on the day that we went as it was a weekend and a national holiday. still managed to see several pandas active and even some playing. we had a tour guide approach us on entry asked me if you wanted to tour which was excellent as she knew which exhibits had pandas in them and which ones were active. She was very good and although she didn't speak English through Google translate she managed to pass on all of the information.

Getting the tickets myself was probably the right choice. I went during golden week and wasn’t sure how busy it was going to be. The park is very well organised and there are plenty of pandas to see. Make sure to spread around the park as it was much quieter towards the west gate.
