Honestly the Shenzhen Baoan is good option if the fares are cheap It is a bit hassles for us from HK to cross the border to take flights from here. Therefore you need to understand how you arrange the whole journey from your home to SZ airport. Of course if you only have a very light carry on that will be much easier ! SZ airport is a very typical airport in China - security security security very tight. Of course it has pro & cons Also you need to pay attention of the powerbank you intend to carry on during the flight… it has to be ccc “China certified”. This is another hassle but it is just very cautious safety measures. The security would verify the SN of your power bank that they can find in the system which they don’t permit the unknown powerbank This time we fly to Japan. Well unluckily the SZ airline aircraft is on outfield then we need to take the bus … also it took so long until the aircraft reach the runway & the takeoff position → SZ airline doesn’t have much advantage in their hub To SZ airport: if you only have a very light carry one going to SZ to fly out is not a bad option because of the cheap fare

This is perhaps the only Halal restaurant there in the airport. The name comes with a remark “china time-honored brand” and its best selling should be the beef noodle. Just find the Food Republic (its a food court), one level higher than the departure hall. Just head to your left towards the end of the floor, you’ll find it to be the last outlet. Missed this during my last visit but hopefully this will help others in finding a halal food outlet at Shenzhen airport!

Stepping inside feels a bit like entering a spaceship —sleek curves, shiny surfaces, and a terminal so wide and spacious it could probably host a small Olympics. In true China-airport fashion, everything is big, bright, modern, and impressively efficient. You’ll find amenities everywhere: full length lie on lounges, F&B for the hungry tummies, children’s playgrounds for tiny adventurers, mom-and-baby rooms that feel more like cozy lounges, souvenir shops for last-minute “I swear I didn’t forget you” gifts, duty-free stores calling your wallet’s name, and even bookstores for the cultured traveler who suddenly wants to read at 6 AM. Navigation is smooth, signage is clear, and the whole place feels calm. Security and immigration can get a long line so tag on early, and the terminals are spotless enough to make you think twice about dropping crumbs from your chocolate muffin.

It’s a huge airport but foreign Traveller normally don’t feel it because the international flights area is just very small compared to domestic area. It’s modern and comfortable airport, generally very well equipped and maintained. However 3 main issues that they never improve since the past few years, really piss me off. 1st the immigration counters, they are super slow and always long wait for small amount of international travelers, many people has their connecting flights affected due to this. 2nd, the security check prior to boarding, it’s always congested and overcrowded. 3rd, there are still many uncivilized travelers using toilet like barbarian way. Poos are not flushed or sometime sticking outside of flushing area, you can’t imagine it……
