I had a great experience at the Panama Canal Visitor Center in Miraflores. The facility is well-organized, informative, and offers a fascinating insight into the history and operation of the Panama Canal. The exhibits are engaging, and the viewing areas provide excellent views of the locks in action — especially impressive during ship transits. The center is clean, well-maintained, and staff are helpful. While the food court is a bit small for the number of visitors, it’s adequate for a quick snack or meal. Overall, it’s a must-visit for anyone interested in engineering, history, or simply wanting to see one of the world’s most impressive man-made wonders in action. Highly recommended for families and travelers alike.
Must go if you are visiting Panama city! This strategic canal is vital shortcut for global trade and military shipping between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Short IMAX movie about the canal is informative and displays are well placed. Have patience and you will be rewarded with ships coming through and you will be able to see how the canal system works. Highly recommended. Less than 30 minutes taxi cab ride from the city area.
Came here to watch ships because it was cool. And it was. But unfortunately they had closed the museum due to upgrades and kept the price the same. I was not aware of this, and as other reviews of mine show, I love museums. The ships were cool and I enjoyed watching them. The film was also cool. Do be aware that there will be a lot of people who are coming and be prepared to struggle to get seating.
