The temple is fantastic. The experience was one of the worst. If you travel with a cruise ship, there is just one and a half hour window for visitinff Edfu temple. Imagine 40 or 60 boats (aprox. 3000 people) opening the gates for all their tourists at 5 am to go to the temple. Transportation is with horse and cart and the locals just rush towards the temple. The faster they take you the faster they can get more clients. And SURPRISE: the temple opens at 6 am. So everybody, literally tousands of people are quiing in yhe bazar and wait for almost One Hour. Then evryone get inside. The massive crowd herded by local guides are trying to see or to understand something. You barely can see the walls and hierogliphs and is difficult to listen to your guide explanations. And suddenly at 7 everyone has to dissapear as the boats are leaving the harbour at 7:30. Finding you drivers and carts is someyhing so hectic, that for seniors can be a real danger. Exactly when the sun is rising and everything becomes magic. After this the temple remains empty and beautiful but is no one to admire it and to understand it.... Until next early morning. (photos taken on exiting when it was a little bit of quiet and sun)

An incredibly well-preserved temple dedicated to Horus. Massive walls, detailed reliefs, and a powerful atmosphere make Edfu one of Egypt’s most impressive temples.

Edfu Temple – Beautiful and Well Preserved. Visiting Edfu Temple was exactly what I expected—absolutely incredible and fascinating. It’s amazing to walk through such a well-preserved temple and stand in a place that has survived for thousands of years. If you want to really understand what you’re seeing, I highly recommend booking your tickets with a tour guide in advance. Having a guide makes the visit much more meaningful and helps explain the history, symbols, and stories behind the temple. It’s definitely worth it. The temple itself is impressive and well maintained, and walking through it gives you a great sense of how ancient Egyptian temples were designed and used. Overall, Edfu Temple is a must-see stop in Egypt and a highlight of any visit along the Nile.

Extradionary temple, the best preserved in the entire country. I was speechless seeing the details on every single wall, for both the interior rooms as well as the exterior walls. Absolutely magnificent, my favourite that I visited along the Dandera temple (located north of Luxor), which is also of Ptolemaic origin (Phiale temple too). You must see it with your own eyes! I came by microbus from Aswan station.

Edfu Temple felt like stepping into one of the best‑preserved temples in all of Egypt, with towering walls and a massive pylon that immediately made the entrance feel grand and imposing. Dedicated to the falcon‑headed god Horus, its dark inner halls, detailed reliefs and intact courtyards made it easy to imagine ancient rituals taking place there, especially when visiting early in the morning before the crowds.
