A group of us recently did the Cobh Rebel Tour, and it was absolutely fantastic. The tour covered wider Irish history from the 1860s through the 1920s, while also sharing the unique stories and heritage of Cobh itself. Our guide, Kieran, was excellent—knowledgeable, engaging, and very approachable. He brought the history to life with great storytelling and was happy to answer all our questions. You could really tell he’s passionate about what he does. If you’re visiting Cobh and have an interest in Irish history, I’d highly recommend this tour! Thanks Kieran!

Without a single doubt, this was my favorite tour in all of Ireland. The passion with which he spoke and his eagerness to share his knowledge on the rebellion, and how it impacted the lives of regular people was an amazing experience. He legitimately paints a picture with his words and sets the stage to bring the past to the forefront. I cannot recommend this enough for anyone who is interested in Irish history. He's a great tour guide, thoroughly answers questions, and is mindful of his group, even the ones that take a bit longer to walk up stairs.

This was wonderful! Our guide Kieran did a fantastic job weaving the history of Ireland and Cobh from the Famine through to the 20th century. We came away with a better understanding on significant events in Ireland's history, including the rise of the IRA and fight for Irish independence. You also get a wonderful walk around the town center, up towards the cathedral and down the deck of cards houses.

irish history walking tour of Cork port town.Kieran really brought history to life as we walked around the town. From pre famine times right up to the Civil War, we got a realistic account of what life was like for the inhabitants of Cobh...I told guide I am irish English..he is a nice guy...show me different. places ,ie where slave ships sailed, the differcult relationship with a big Empire..it was more like a tour of my life as a paddy living in England, ie I talked my confused mind ,feelings of mixed culture roots ....I bet you are equally confused about your irish/Americian /English identity...

A must do if your in Cobh is the Cobh rebel walking tours. Easily the best tour I was ever on. Kieran McCarthy brings to life the history of Cobh with the passion he has for place. The details of the people involved in ambushes in every site. The hidden tunnels the places where Connelly Pearse and rebels stayed and all the history of Spike island and how the garrisons lived a brilliant tour. Go and see Spike island as well but hands down Kieran is an education don't miss his tour.
