Welcome to the heart of Puerto Vallarta, the historic and vibrant center where most visitors begin or end their journey. This charming yet adventurous neighborhood carries the magic and character of an old fishing town, with streets that have stood for many centuries. Walking through this area, you can feel the rich history and local culture that make it truly unique. A must-visit spot is the Emiliano Zapata Market, open only until 3 PM, where visitors can see a wide variety of extraordinary fruits, vegetables, and butcher shops. This market is also the perfect place to explore chiles, learn about their different types, and see them before they are used in local dishes.
The Spicy Vallarta Food Tour offers an educational and flavorful experience at different times throughout the day, including 9:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 3:30 PM, and 6:30 PM. During this tour, guests not only explore the market but also gain insight into the culinary traditions of Puerto Vallarta, especially the use of chiles in local cuisine. The tour combines history, culture, and gastronomy in a way that is both engaging and informative. Visitors leave with a deeper understanding of the flavors, ingredients, and traditions that define this iconic area of the city, making it a must-do experience for anyone interested in authentic Mexican food and culture.

Extremely worth it!! Well planned tour with a variety of local dishes. Our tour guide Maho was very knowledgeable and funny.

Al was a wonderful guide, very personable and friendly with expert knowledge of tacos in Vallarta. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and we all agreed the birria tacos were the best!

The street taco tour was a magical and fun experience! As a first time traveler to Puerto Vallarta this tour was such a lovely introduction to the city culture and the delicious food. Our tour guide Joana was wonderful and felt like an instant friend. The numerous tastings were fabulous, and there was so much food that everyone was full by the end of the evening. We explored some very authentic venues that I would not have discovered on my own. The bonding with fellow travelers was also nice and made for a very enjoyable evening. I recommend doing the tour early during your visit so you can go back for more of what you like.

Had an amazing experience with Erik! He is very informative and very genuine. He took us to 6 different places to eat food from street tacos to ceviche to chilaquiles. Every place was delicious and my wife and I had an amazing experience. 10/10 highly recommend doing this tour. You’re able to enjoy the food of the locals while walking around Puerto Vallarta and exploring.

We decided to take a taco tasting tour through the streets of Puerto Vallarta. Vallarta Food Tours was awesome! Very knowledgeable about the taco spots, various types and history of each place! They were very accommodating throughout the entire tour, answered all our questions and kept the tour very fun! We even had some tasty local beverages and ice cream along the way. Definitely recommend this place for a great experience!

Fernanda was just amazing as I don't eat red meat and she was kind enough to ask me the same. However at some places there were no substitutions because pork and beef are sold traditionally without any chicken and some places she substituted my red meat with chicken which was fantastic! And those places which could not be substituted she gave me double tacos from the previous place or from the next place. All the seafood tacos were exceptional. Depending on the climate, I was such as to wear very light clothes, and the footwear has to be flat wear or shoes because of the 3.5 hour walking experience. The first four tax tastings was done directly after meeting to the spot and then there was a 10 minute bus right and after that rest of the taco tastings along with churros & alcohol beverage was there.

We had a great time doing the walking taco tour around Puerto Vallarta! We were a group of five and we all said what an amazing time we had. It was nice to be able to try out different types of tacos plus we had a churro stop! The guide was super friendly and knowledgeable about each taco stands’ history as well as what toppings were best. Arrive hungry because you will be leaving FULL. All tacos were so delicious and it’s a great way to see the town. We wouldn’t have left our resort otherwise!

Sylvia was absolutely fabulous! Friendly, engaging and knowledgeable about the food and history. She warned me about the heat of the different sauces with great humour. All of the food we tried was wonderful and after 8 stops we were all stuffed! Highly recommend.

We were a lovely group size of 6 ppl. Mahonrie (Maho) was an excellent guide. Personable, accommodating, informative and funny. The food stops were very enjoyable. The food choices were delish. Excellent value for money. Do it early on your trip and you’ll know where and where not to go eat for the rest of your vacation. 🙌🏻🙏
