We stepped into the center not expecting much as a stopover during a long drive. We came out so happy having fed the giraffes and having listened in a conference on girafes. The guide was so knowledgeable we were able to spot and recognise giraffes in the wild! Loved it, absolutely recommend it with kids! Remember to bring a bit of cash to leave in the donation box for local school children!

A beautiful experience with the giraffes. You see them up close and get to feed them. Its a very short visit with nothing else to do expect see the giraffes and take pictures. They have a curio shops but prices are very high for items you can but at any Maasai market. A lovely experience for first time visitors but don't expect multiple activities on site.

A well-kept sanctuary ticked away in Karen and dedicated to the conservation of Rothschild giraffes. From the elevated wooden platform, we got to feed a few giraffes up close. Be sure to wash your hands beforehand at the entry and watch out for those long, curious tongues and possible headbutts!. A friendly guide walked us through the center’s work, and there's a small learning center inside with plenty of info on giraffe conservation. Just a few meters away is the Giraffe Manor Hotel.

The Giraffe Centre in Nairobi is one of those places you expect to be a quick “touristy stop,” but it ends up holding your attention longer than you planned. It’s clean, well-run, and surprisingly intimate. You’re not shoved through a conveyor belt of activities, you actually get time with the animals. What stood out most was the backstory. Hearing how the Rothschild giraffes were almost wiped out, and how this place became both sanctuary and breeding ground, gives the visit more weight. It’s not just a selfie spot; there’s a real conservation effort behind the scenes, and the staff explain it with a calm pride that feels genuine, not scripted. Feeding the giraffes is equal parts fascinating and slightly surreal. Up close, you really appreciate how oddly magnificent they are, the eyelashes that look like they belong on an editorial shoot, the calm, heavy chewing, the tongue that feels like rubber dipped in syrup. They’re massive, but gentle in a way that makes you slow down without thinking about it. The place is small, so don’t expect a wildlife park. You’re coming for an encounter, not a safari. But for that single experience, learning their anatomy, standing eye-level with an animal that’s usually several meters above you, understanding why their numbers matter, it delivers. If you go in with the right expectations, it’s one of Nairobi’s more meaningful stops. Not life-changing, but genuinely worth the time. A simple, well-kept reminder that conservation can feel personal when you’re standing face-to-face with a creature that shouldn’t be this easy to lose.

I recently visited the Giraffe Centre, and it turned out to be one of the most wholesome experiences I’ve had in Nairobi. From the moment I walked in, the place felt calm, organized, and very welcoming. The best part was getting to feed the giraffes up close. Standing on the raised platform and having a giraffe gently lean in for a food pellet is such a surreal moment — they’re incredibly calm and friendly. It’s one of those experiences you can’t fully describe until you actually do it. The staff were really friendly and knew so much about the giraffes. They explained how each giraffe has its own personality, and you can actually notice it when you’re feeding them. It made the whole experience feel more meaningful, not just like a typical tourist stop. The place is well-kept, clean, and perfect for photos. If you have time, the little nature trail inside the compound is a nice bonus — quiet, peaceful, and a good escape before you leave. It does get a bit crowded depending on the time of day, so going early is a plus. Souvenirs are there, but slightly pricey if you’re on a budget. Overall, it’s a short visit, but a really memorable one. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, the Giraffe Centre is definitely worth the stop — it leaves you with a deeper appreciation for wildlife and some great photos to go home with.
