The Mardi Himal Trek is an ideal choice for trekkers seeking a short, peaceful, and unforgettable Himalayan adventure. Despite being a relatively brief trek, it offers abundant excitement and spectacular scenery that rivals longer Himalayan routes. The trail follows the eastern ridge of the Annapurna Sanctuary, guiding trekkers through glacial valleys, lush forests, and stunning landscapes of the Annapurna region. As you ascend, the trek reveals breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and deep valleys, creating a harmonious blend of natural beauty and adventure. The route is quieter and less crowded than many other trails in the region, allowing trekkers to fully immerse themselves in the serene environment while enjoying a sense of solitude amidst the grandeur of the mountains.
The journey takes you through vibrant Rhododendron forests, rugged trails, and rocky paths leading to the base of Mardi Himal. From this vantage point, trekkers are treated to panoramic vistas of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Himchuli, and the iconic Machapuchhre or Fishtail peak. Along the way, the sweeping views of the Himalayan foothills, terraced fields, and quaint villages enhance the trekking experience. The trek also provides opportunities to experience the local lifestyle through homestays and cultural interactions, allowing trekkers to gain insight into the traditions, hospitality, and daily lives of the mountain communities. With its combination of stunning scenery, moderate challenge, cultural encounters, and peaceful environment, the Mardi Himal Trek offers a truly enriching experience. The Mardi Himal Trek is a short and scenic trekking route in Nepal’s Annapurna region, perfect for trekkers seeking peaceful trails and close-up mountain views. Located east of the Annapurna Base Camp route, this trek offers stunning panoramas of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal itself. The trail passes through lush rhododendron forests, traditional Gurung villages, alpine meadows, and high ridges with dramatic Himalayan scenery. One of the highlights is the walk from High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp, where trekkers enjoy breathtaking sunrise views and a quiet, less-crowded atmosphere compared to other popular treks. The Mardi Himal Trek is suitable for beginners and experienced trekkers alike, usually completed in 5–7 days from Pokhara. With moderate difficulty, comfortable teahouse accommodation, and incredible natural beauty, Mardi Himal is an excellent choice for those wanting an authentic Himalayan trekking experience in a short time.

Description: The trek is a more fruitful alternative to the Annapurna base camp(ABC) trek. You get panoramic views of the Annapurna range and a close up of the Fish tail mountain. Best months: post monsoon (October-November) for clear skies and spring (March-April) if you want to avoid the peak season. Cost: An ACAP permit needs to be made at the Nepal Tourism Board in Pokhara, it costs NPR 1,000 for SAARC nationals and NPR 3,000 for other foreigners. Trek route: For the ideal trek, you need to follow the Kande-Australian camp-forest camp-high camp route. The siding side is only recommended for descending since it is steep and the trail is almost entirely stone stairs. Difficulty: it's an easy to moderate trek, most of it is ascending, a lot of people choose this as their first time trek(I strongly advise otherwise).

The views are insanely beautiful and we made some awesome memories! We did the trek in 5 days which is pretty long but therefore we had enough time to really enjoy the views! It’s definitely doable in less time but if i would repeat the trek I’d do it in 5 days anyways just to really be able to enjoy!

We completed the Mardi Himal Trek in just 3 days, and it was an incredible yet challenging experience! The trek offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, with stunning landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere. The trail takes you through dense forests, ridges, and open meadows, making the journey truly enjoyable. Things to Consider: More expensive than other treks – Food and accommodation costs are higher. Completed in 3 days – It’s possible to complete in 3 days and if you are a beginner then this trek is for you. Pack warm clothes – The temperature drops significantly at High Camp. Start early for Base Camp – The sunrise view is worth the effort! Despite the cost, the experience and views make it absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for those looking for a short but rewarding trek!
