This tour was a major disappointment, especially for the $174 CAD price tag. We were told pick-up would be at our address, but no one ever contacted us with details. We had to reach out ourselves, and only then were told to meet at a separate location instead. Not a great start. The original 12km hike was canceled due to fog (which is understandable), but the “alternative” hike we were given was barely 2km. The views were nice, but it was nowhere near an equivalent experience. Our guide Andre was on his phone constantly — not only during the entire activity or during stops, but even while driving, at times watching videos behind the wheel. The driving felt downright dangerous, and it made it really hard to relax or enjoy the trip. There was little communication about when/ how we would return. We had planned our evening based on the stated end time on the booking, so it was frustrating to arrive hours later with no communication about this, despite doing less activities and a much s
The hike was amazing. It came in three parts. The first was a wide trail on a modest incline that took us to the edge of a massive limestone quarry (30- 45 min). The second leg enters the brush. I’d recommend long shorts to protect your thighs. The trail is narrow and overgrown in parts. But a few scratches on our ankles was a small price to pay for the views along the ridge of the cliff. We had to push branches away, but the views of the ocean, sky and rocks below were astounding. Our guide discovered this trail, and he was amazing. You will not fight other tourists for the best pictures … you won’t see anyone all day. The seclusion is special. This leg is 2-3 hours depending on pace and time for pictures. The final leg is a relaxing walk back to the cafe where we started. Wide / flat trail that was relaxing after the ridge … 30-45 minutes Don’t do this alone … and don’t do this without Andre … he’s amazing
This was such an incredible hike! Rui was a wonderful, personable, and knowledgeable guide. The views are a must see if you are visiting Portugal. I highly recommend the spring so you can see the beautiful wildflowers. 10/10!
