This was one of the largest fort I have visited. Very beautiful and maintained very nicely. With the museum where information is written in different languages. They also provide Guides- Personal and Audio guide. They have area for first aid in case of medical emergency. Clean toilets. Cafés for quick bite. View is stunning from the fort. You can see entire Jodhpur city. I went there during New Year’s Eve and that was my biggest mistake because it was super crowded.

Every wall every corner tells a royal story, story of valour. A must place to visit. Make sure to have sufficient time in hand if you want to know the rich history and royal culture. There are few cafes cum restaurants inside the fort which are a bit upscale but food is good. Also, the fort provides stunning views of the city from different corners and angles. One should have ample time to experience those if photography is your cup of tea.

Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur: A Majestic Review Perched dramatically atop a 400-foot rocky hill overlooking Jodhpur, Mehrangarh Fort stands as one of India’s most imposing and magnificent forts. Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the Rathore ruler who established the city, it evolved over centuries with contributions from successive kings, blending rugged exterior defenses with exquisite interior palaces. Its massive sandstone walls, scarred by cannonballs from historic battles, enclose intricate courtyards, ornate halls like the mirror-worked Sheesh Mahal and flower-adorned Phool Mahal, and a world-class museum showcasing royal artifacts, weapons, paintings, palanquins, and turbans. Visitors rave about the breathtaking panoramic views of Jodhpur’s iconic “Blue City”—a sea of indigo-hued houses sprawling below, especially stunning at sunrise or sunset. The well-preserved site offers an immersive glimpse into Rajput grandeur and history, enhanced by excellent audio guides (included in entry) that narrate tales of valor and royalty. Folk musicians add authentic charm, while facilities like elevators aid accessibility for seniors. Though crowds and queues can build (visit early mornings in cooler months, October-March), the fort’s scale, architecture, and atmosphere earn consistent praise as Rajasthan’s finest. Tripadvisor rates it 4.7/5 from thousands, calling it a must-visit masterpiece. Adventurous extras like ziplining provide thrills. In all, Mehrangarh is an awe-inspiring testament to India’s heritage—unmissable for history lovers.

I recently visited the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur and I must say, it was an incredible experience. The fort is a must-visit for all tourists in Jodhpur as it offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the city. The architecture of the fort is stunning and the views from the top are breathtaking. The museum inside the fort is well-curated and gives a detailed insight into the life and times of the Rajput rulers. The audio guide provided was also very informative. Overall, a must-visit place for anyone traveling to Jodhpur.

Mehrangarh Fort, perched majestically on a rocky hill overlooking the blue city of Jodhpur, is one of the largest and most impressive forts in India. Built in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, the fort rises nearly 400 feet above the surrounding landscape, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city below. Its massive walls, formidable gates, and imposing structure reflect the strength and grandeur of Rajput architecture. Inside the fort complex, visitors can explore beautifully preserved palaces such as Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, and Takht Vilas, each adorned with intricate carvings, mirror work, stained glass, and detailed frescoes. The fort also houses a well-curated museum displaying royal artifacts, including palanquins, weapons, costumes, paintings, and musical instruments that provide deep insight into the royal lifestyle of Marwar.

It was a great tour! P.K. Was an amazing guide, he speaks perfect english and knows a lot about his city and his country. As the transport is not included he organized a couple of tuk-tuks to move inbetween the different monuments and we payed 500rp additionally but it was ok. I absolutely recommend it!!
