Touristic but worth it. Great views and excursion. Normal class is enough. Tickets can be bought onsite and online.

El Tren del Fin del Mundo is a truly iconic experience and one memorable attractions in Ushuaia. Far more than a simple tourist train, it is a beautifully curated journey through history, and nature. Following the original route once used by prisoners of the old Ushuaia prison, the ride offers a fascinating historical narrative combined with breathtaking landscapes of forests, rivers, peat bogs, and the dramatic backdrop of Tierra del Fuego.

It was interesting if you like hearing about the history of the prisoners, Ushuaia, flora and fauna. Although a bit pricy for the duration of the ride in my opinion, plus it is almost expected of you to buy the pictures with the prisoners. We paid 73 euros for the train ticket and the entrance to the national park plus 15 euros for the picture with the prisoners.

El Tren del Fin del Mundo (Train to the End of the World) is more than a scenic ride, it’s a journey into the past of Tierra del Fuego, where the landscapes whisper the stories of those who once lived deprived of their freedom at the very edge of the world. As the train winds through valleys, rivers, and forests, the scenery is breathtaking: snow-capped peaks, endless stretches of lenga trees, and the raw beauty of Tierra del Fuego unfolding outside the window. The narration, available in multiple languages, enriches the journey by weaving together history and nature, so you don’t just see the landscape, you feel the weight of its stories. It is both a moving tribute to the past and an unforgettable way to experience the southernmost railway in the world. On a practical note, you’ll need to purchase tickets for both the train ride and the National Park, available online or at the station. The ideal season to take the ride is summer, but if you visit in autumn or winter, bring a warm jacket, preferably waterproof one, to enjoy the journey comfortably. Whatever the season, this train ride to the end of the world is an experience that will stay with you forever.

Went with my wife on October 13, 2025. I was impresses by the captivating beauty of the scenery. The narration was very useful to the understand how this teain was built, and how the prisoners suffered trying to endure the extreme cold in this region. Well worth the money.
