When it comes to Italian cuisine, meat often takes center stage—but it’s the vegetables that quietly hold the soul of tradition. Rooted in centuries of rustic living, Italian cooking is a testament to simplicity, resourcefulness, and flavor. In the past, especially in rural areas, meat was considered a luxury that peasants could afford only once a week, if that. As a result, vegetables became the foundation of daily meals, treated with the same care and reverence as any prized cut of meat.
This humble approach gave rise to dishes that are now celebrated staples of the Italian table—flavorful, hearty, and deeply connected to the land. Every bite tells a story of ingenuity: how poverty turned into creativity, and how necessity gave birth to a cuisine that values quality, seasonality, and balance. On this tour, you’ll discover how vegetables, legumes, and grains are elevated into unforgettable culinary experiences, and how tradition continues to shape Italian food today.

Very delicious tour, I loved all the wines and food pairings. Star of the evening was Vivien with her very interesting and informative presentations and super caring approach. Thank you Vivien and team for making my evening memorable!

We had an AMAZING time with Fiore. She explained in excellent English, she helped fix things when we didn't do it quite right & she made the class fun! Loved meeting the others in class too. So many awesome stories. Fiore even gave good advice for our next tour. The wine was just added bonus. Very awesome restaurant.

What an unforgettable expereince in Florence! 🇮🇹 We took a cooking class with the amazing Grazie Ambar and had the BEST time. We made ravioli from scratch (I can’t believe how good mine turned out 😍) and a tiramisu that I’ll be bragging about for a while. Grazie was so kind, patient, and fun—she made the whole experience feel like we were cooking with family. 🍝🍷 We laughed, we learned, and we ate until we couldn’t anymore. If you’re in Florence, don’t miss this class. It’s the perfect mix of culture, food, and fun memories. Highly recommend! 🌟

We had an amazing experience with The Roman Food Tour, and Tina was the perfect guide! She is incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and fun, making the whole tour feel like a journey with a friend. Tina shared not only delicious food stops but also great stories, history, and local tips that made the experience unforgettable. Thanks to her, we discovered places we never would have found on our own. Highly recommend both the tour and especially Tina she made our trip to Rome truly special!

Our host Giordano was great. He was very knowledgeable about all the wine & food we tasted. The restaurants we went to were also wonderful & welcoming. Our fellow tourists were fun to be around. It was our first time in Rome so it was nice to see a different area than where our hotel was; we wouldn’t have known to venture out like this. I highly recommend this tour for first time visitors.
