This is a smaller but less crowded Asakusa or Kawasaki Daiishi. I thoroughly enjoyed the shops - bought a few showa items and daruma. The Dango was especially yummy. The temple itself was very pretty and easy on the eyes. There are 2 paid areas (wood carving museum and garden). But you can go to the temple itself for free. Went here during the new year holiday for hatsumode so it was crowded (but not claustrophobic.

I really enjoyed this tour in Shibamata. It was such a calm and peaceful area of Tokyo and felt like a completely different side of the city. I loved that it wasn't crowded at all and that you could really take your time walking through the neighborhood and soaking in the atmosphere. Megumi is a wonderful guide. She is very kind, knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions. You can really tell how much she knows about the area and enjoys sharing it with others. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience a quieter, more local side of Tokyo. It was a lovely and memorable experience.

Interesting and quaint old fashion town. This is the setting of Torasan movies. A good place to visit just 35 min out of Tokyo. Highly recommended.

Get transported back to the time of Tokyo past. Hardly half hour away from Tokyo city hides this gem of a place. Beautiful and incredibly serene. Kept in its pristine condition and life goes on daily as if nothing has changed in this 400 year old street. Incredible

Cute public shopping street with food stalls and souvenirs. Very kind vendors and delicious snacks like Dango. Street leads to a beautiful temple known for its intricate wood carvings. It was not crowded.

It took about 35-40mins train ride from the city. We came on a Sunday the crowd was pretty decent in the morning, not too packed. Overall we probably spend an hour or hour and a half here, just simple stroll and tasting some of the dango snacks. the area is relatively small but a good getaway from the city.

Visite très intéressante dans un quartier calme et méconnu. La guide était très gentille et on a eu droit à des friandises et des petits souvenirs en cadeaux. je recommande.

I loved this tour in a quiet peaceful neighbourhood just outside the buzzling city center of Tokyo. The temple and it's garden were amazing. Also the guide Machiko is very knowledgeable and very kind. I recommend this trip 5/5!
