Chumbe Island Coral Park is an exclusive, award-winning private nature reserve that offers a rare opportunity to explore one of the last pristine coral islands in the world. Located off the coast of Zanzibar, the island is home to a rich diversity of rare and endangered species that are carefully protected within the park. The reserve spans both a fully protected coral reef sanctuary and a lush forest reserve, making it a haven for wildlife and nature enthusiasts alike. The park is not just a sanctuary for animals but also an educational space, offering visitors the chance to learn about conservation efforts and the importance of preserving such delicate ecosystems.
A major highlight of the park is its coral reef sanctuary, which is one of the most well-preserved in the region. With its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life, visitors can explore the underwater world through snorkeling, observing colorful fish, and intricate coral formations. Above the water, nature trails weave through the island’s lush forest, allowing guests to discover its unique biodiversity. The island is also home to historical ruins, adding a cultural touch to the otherwise natural beauty.
For those looking to fully immerse themselves in the island’s tranquility, Chumbe Island Coral Park offers eco-bungalows for overnight stays. These accommodations are built with sustainability in mind and offer a comfortable, off-the-grid experience. Whether you're snorkeling in the reef, hiking through the forest, or simply relaxing in the serene surroundings, every moment on Chumbe Island promises to be a peaceful escape from the world, making it the perfect destination for a completely relaxing getaway.

This piece of paradise is so worthwhile visiting. We stayed at Kowa cottage and loved it. Thanks to all the people involved in making this experience possible and taking care of the beautiful and fragile ecosystem.

The island itself is absolutely beautiful but we felt like the natural views did most of the heavy lifting. The guiding could have been better and lots of time is wasted on the forest walk. I recommend skipping the forest walk as it's not really anything substantial. Instead beach combing is a great idea. The snorkelling was truly awesome.

This is certainly an island paradise with a staff which went out of its way to help us enjoy our stay. The food was magnificent and the goal of sustainability and preservation of this incredible ecosystem was marvelous.

I will never forget this incredible place! It is amazing the effort they have put in to make it sustainable. The rooms have ventilators powered with solar energy, you can open the "windows" to get a fresh sea breeze and an incredible view. The showers and faucets use rainwater and the toilets are compost toilets. They provide drinking water in the rooms for toothbrushing and drinking. The rooms are beautiful, they provide you with a yoga mat as well. The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner is amazing, they acommodate to vegetarians. They have a forest walk, crab walk and snorkelling activities. I saw so many coconut crabs, hermit crabs, I even saw a snake ! The coral reef here is the most preserved reef I have seen in Tanzania, beautiful colours and many fish. You can really see the work they have put in to restore the reef. The staff is incredibly kind, serviceable, they know so much about the ecology of the place. Of course the location is amazing, the island is beautiful.

Our stay at Chumbe Island Coral Park was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the beauty and tranquility of this unique eco-resort. The island is a true haven for nature lovers, with its pristine coral reef sanctuary and lush forest reserve. The staff at Chumbe Island Coral Park were exceptional. Their passion for conservation and hospitality was evident in everything they did. They made us feel welcome and ensured that our stay was both enjoyable and educational. The guided snorkeling tour through the protected coral reef was an unforgettable experience. One of the most rewarding aspects of our stay was knowing that our visit directly supported the island's conservation efforts and environmental education programs for local schools. It's inspiring to see a place that balances tourism with a strong commitment to sustainability and community development. If you're looking for a unique, eco-friendly getaway that offers both relaxation and adventure, Chumbe Island Coral Park is the perfect destination. We can't wait to return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable experience in Zanzibar.
