Astara Sim Village Hike Reveals Talysh Mountain Serenity

A scenic hiking tour in Astara is drawing nature enthusiasts to the hidden village of Sim, nestled deep within the Talysh Mountains. Known for its tranquil atmosphere and lush surroundings, Sim—whose name means “High” or “Steep” in the Talysh language—offers an immersive escape into one of Azerbaijan’s most peaceful and untouched landscapes.

The trail begins at the center of Sim village and gradually ascends through dense woodlands, moss-covered rocks, and serene forest paths leading toward the Ballıgaya route. Covering an ascent of 434 meters over approximately 7 kilometers, the route is considered easy and accessible, with a return path that offers new perspectives of the surrounding scenery.
