Masai Mara is unreal. The wide open plains, the huge sky, and seeing animals living freely in their natural space is something you don’t forget. It’s quiet, powerful, and makes you slow down and just take it all in. Long after you leave, the feeling stays with you.

It is one of the best places to visit. From the moment we entered the park, we were amazed by the stunning landscape, the wide variety of animals roaming close to us, and the vast open sky—it felt like a scene straight out of a documentary. The entrance fee is high for foreign visitors, but the experience is truly worth it. We went on game drives during sunrise and evening. The driver played a dual role as both driver and guide. He was very knowledgeable, knew the names and behaviors of the animals, and took us to the right spots at the right time. The Land Cruiser was very comfortable for the bumpy roads. We even witnessed a group of lions hunting a buffalo—an unforgettable moment. Some drivers did not follow the rules and got too close to the animals. During lion hunting time, drivers called others through walkie-talkies, causing many vehicles to rush to the spot, which clearly disturbed them. Hot air balloons were also quite frequent. We didn’t see rhinos in this park, though we had seen many in another park. We stayed inside the park, and hearing the hippos at night was thrilling. The memories we made here will stay with us forever.

Maasai Mara reserve is quite different from what we actually thought. First, it is not a forest, it is plain highlands stretching for miles & miles. There are patches of shrubs and small trees and an occasional welcome tree along the route. We visited the park in first week of December. The land is all yellow dried grass. Lot of deers, antelopes, wild buffalo, zebra & giraffe. We saw one pack of lion about 12-13 feasting on buffalo meat after early morning hunt. We did not see the hunt, this normally happens very early morning. One leopard we saw and couple of elephants. Hippos are all in water, they come out to graze only late evening or night. Rino are practically nil, we did not see. Our tour was organized by Musafir Travels in Dubai, the park visit included one evening trip and one full day. This is more than enough. The best time to visit is July-Aug when the migration happens after monsoon and the park is all green. The safari trip is fun and worth the experience. The vehicles are land cruisers, special ones with detachable tops and perfect suspensions for rough rides. We stayed in Simba Mara lodge, this is just on the park boundary. The lodge and facilities are top class. There are options to stay inside the park, this is risky and probably unsafe for families with children.

Nothing short of breathtaking, the place is amazing for unwinding and exploration. Bring your family or come with friends or have a solo trip, you'll still enjoy the experience✨️

Visiting Masai Mara National Reserve was truly a lifetime experience! The vast savannahs, incredible wildlife, and beautiful landscapes make it one of the best safari destinations in the world. We stayed near Talek Gate, which I highly recommend — it’s very convenient for early morning and full-day game drives. The wildlife sightings were amazing! We saw plenty of lions with cubs, elephants, giraffes, and many other animals. Seeing these animals up close in their natural habitat was simply breathtaking. The drivers and guides are very experienced and stay in constant communication through their radios, which really helps in spotting animals quickly. Every game drive felt exciting and different! We went in September, but unfortunately missed the Great Migration — still, the experience was unforgettable. The full-day game drives with packed breakfast and lunch were well-organized and comfortable. A few tips for travelers: • Carry insect repellents — there are lots of flies, especially near certain areas. • Mornings can be extremely cold, so take enough warm layers. • Daytime can get sunny, so sunscreen and hats are useful. Overall, Masai Mara is a must-visit destination for every nature and wildlife lover. The beauty of the reserve and the thrill of the safari will stay with you forever!
