An amazing place!!! My husband and I did a group ride while on vacation and it was one of the best parts of our trip! The staff are extremely kind and organized. The day we were supposed to go there was bad weather and they timely contacted me to schedule a different date. Helena was EXCELLENT the day we went and helped us get situated and guided us through the ride. We were on the horses for a little over an hour and took a beautiful ride to the bay and even went through the water. She even took some photos for us! If you want to add a horse ride to your trip I highly recommend this one! You will not be disappointed :)

Amazing place, great places to horse ride and even had seals swimming around nearby Riding in the water with the back drop of Croagh Patrick was amazing. Great knowledgable staff and tour guides Safety and equipment demos as you would expect, really healthy horses and a really good activity Definitely recommend.

This horseback ride was one of the reasons we chose to come to Ireland and needless to say I’m disappointed 😒. First, the office was hard to see because it was tiny. It was located in the front so that was good. When we checked in, the lady at the desk was disorganized and didn’t seem to know we were on the list to ride? I had booked through Travelocity and I showed her the tickets for two riders. After we showed her the tickets, she asked someone from the stables if the tickets were okay for us to ride? Then it took 10 or more helmet sizes before the right one fit. They had us take our shoes off in the tiny office to try on boots and we were falling into one another. There was a bench outside, so I’m not sure why she wouldn’t have us sit instead? The gals in the stable pair you with the horses. I thought I was going to get one with long hair on the hoofs like the pictures advertised, but that wasn’t the case. Only some riders get those! The horse they paired me with was very tall and I’m 5 feet, so it wasn’t easy to get on and off. Quite the jump down 😬. I had to have a stool to climb up. I’ve never had to do that at any other ranch I’ve been to. The horse seemed frustrated and kept backing up away from the other horses standing. The horse tried to bite the stable gal when she walked it over to me and also tried to bite me a couple times on the ride. I had to pull its head away. It wasn’t an aggressive bite though, more like a nip. On the trail I had to constantly pull the horses head from trying to eat too. It was more of a workout than a nice relaxing ride :/. The ride itself was boring and awkward. Nobody was talking and it was not fun! Other trail rides I’ve been on people were chatting and having a good time. I was in the back of the line, so idk if that was why? When the trail guide was talking halfway through the ride, on the beach, it was windy and I couldn’t hear anything she was saying 🤷♀️. It was the only time someone talked and I have no idea what was said? The trail is mostly flat and walking on back roads. You get views of pavement and fields mostly. They do bring you through water during low tide. It was the best part of the ride. It was not a white sandy beach that is advertised though. It looks murky like mud. There weren’t any seals like advertised as well. The pictures that were taken of me, weren’t great. They use your phone, so make sure to bring one! Also, make sure to dress warm. It was chilly and windy out there where the photo is taken.

This experience was out of this world, I think it even tops my Algonquin Park trail ride. Guides were knowledgeable and flexible to ensure everyone was okay and confident. I’m a very experienced rider but was a bit rusty and nervous, the lovely Trooper took great care of me. Highly recommend and would love to come back. Horses all in great shape and get regular breaks.

I had a great experience at Carrowholly, booking was easy and the yard is close to Westport and easy to find. The horses are relaxed and happy and obviously love their jobs. Guides Emily and Alex were really friendly with lots of local knowledge, and they did a great job of managing a mixed ability group so the less confident riders felt comfortable but I was in no way bored and got plenty of opportunities to canter. The scenery is breathtaking and getting to ride in the sea was amazing and obviously a favourite for the horses! Emily took some great photos and video which was really kind. I’d highly recommend Carrowholly, as a more experienced rider it was great and I was very impressed with how the staff and horses took care of the more novice riders in our group. Big thank you to all the staff and a kiss on the nose for handsome grey Billy.
