AVA LEGENDARY MEMBER… I Must say I am not one to leave a bad review but for all of the hype and how professional the course is supposed to be it did not meet the expectation. I was in Cancun on vacation from Washington State. I had a 1:30 tea time which is considered evening golf. I showed up with my wife rented gulf clubs and paid for my wife to ride along. I was disappointed b/c I was not able to use the range to practice b/c they said it was flooded due to the rain. I wish I would have been told before I scheduled my tea time, but they scheduled it knowing I would not be able to use the range. Right at 1:30 it started storming with lightning I was told to wait until the storm passed we had lunch which was great. Once the storm stopped they told us we could continue. Played 3 holes and they stoped us agin due to lightning. I was told by one of the catties that I could ask for a range check b/c of the lighting. I went in to the front desk asked the receptionist she said the same thing and then proceeded to talk with her manager behind her. He pretty much looked at me with a blank stair and told me I had to wait until the storm stopped. By this time it had already been an hour and half, I asked for a range check not a refund and he told me he could not do it. I paid 300+ to play and they said it was not course policy and the politics where the politics and they could not do anything. Paul the course manager came out I asked him for a range check and he also said the same thing his crony at the front desk said. The level of ignorance and lack of customer service for such a prestigious course was mind boggling. They had the audacity to tell me b/c I got the reservation at a discount and I did not pay full price like everyone else b/c The AVA hotel scheduled it I did not have the same level of service as someone who paid full price or scheduled during the morning. At that point I was so emotionally charged and I just left. I would not recommend golfing there after the experience we had. Paul the course manager and his front desk manager have no concept of what hospitality and customer service is. After I was told I could get a range check and then to be told by management that I had no choice but to wait until the storm passed which it never did and not play and leave $300.00+ dollars on the table was down right unprofessional and disrespectful. This was the one thing I was looking forward to do during my trip to Cancun. Call ahead if your going to book your time to play and make sure you have access to what you need b/c if you don’t THEY WILL NOT TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN IT TO YOU AHEAD OF TIME AND THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY WITH NO REMORSE and EVEN IF YOU ASK ALL OF THE QUESTIONS THEY WILL PROBABLY LIE TO YOU JUST TO TAKE YOUR MONEY! I WOULD’NT TRUST THEM!

Great course, amazing service, and lots of wildlife. The fairways and bunkers could use some TLC, but overall worth the price.

I had a great experience at Riviera Cancun Golf Course. Booked through the ‘website’ when you google search the course. 3rd party company took care of the booking and rental clubs, no issues through any of that. Course was in good condition, saw a few sandy greens but not many. Challenging course, definitely not for beginners. Lots and lots of water on a lot of holes. Make sure to bring enough balls, course is narrow and you will hit some balls out of bounds. Difference between playing on this course is that there is a bunch of wildlife on the course so you won’t go searching too long into the bushes because of the snakes and all. Saw the cart guy about 5 times, snacks, food and all drinks are included. Side note: they have tequila, rum and vodka in there as well.

The best way to describe this course is golf course meets the jungle! It is a phenomenal balance of golf course and nature! The indigenous wild animals will blow you away and there are a number of them! What’s most important about this golf course as it is attended to by a well trained staff. It is certainly on my replay list! One more beautiful thing about it is that it is 100% all inclusive your fee pays for a continental breakfast for lunch drinks snack snacks 100% while you’re on the golf course so its really major deal! Do yourself a favor and play this steal of a deal!

An unconventional 5 star review - mixture of both course and hospitality. Keep in mind, we golfed about 5 days after Hurricane Beryl made it's way through. We booked through Mexico Golf Tee Times (3rd party) and were a little nervous about the booking and how smooth it would go. It took 24 hours for the course to confirm pretty close to the requested tee time we wanted and we were also able to tell them how early we wanted to be picked up as well and they confirmed a pickup time too. Where I would initially knock off stars is that the transportation was late. HOWEVER - about 30 minutes after our scheduled pickup time, our hotel staff actually found us in the lobby and told us that the course called them to let them know that there was an issue with transportation and just to call a taxi and they would pay for all of it. Our hotel had a taxi there in less than 10 minutes and the course took care of everything after that. Driving range was soaked and closed, 4 holes were closed so we played 1-4 twice (par was still the same). The holes that we did get to play were in incredible shape for a hurricane passing over! Most bunkers were playable, some were pullouts. Beautiful fairways, challenging greens, very pretty lagoon scenery! The only wildlife we didn't check off the sight seeing list were the little "bandito" monkeys. The course staff were extremely nice and were always around to make sure we knew where to go when needing to skip holes. I think we saw the food/beverage cart about 10 times, which was great. Transportation was on track by the time we were done, so we still had about an hour before our pick up time, so we had plenty of time to eat lunch at their restaurant and stay out of the heat before getting taken back. I wanted to give them less than 5 stars for some of the inconveniences/struggles we encountered, but some were due to nature and the rest was completely made up for in 5 star service.
