First time playing this course, but I wanted to get to it all summer. We’ve had a great summer that extended all the way into October, but over the last week we’ve dipped into the 50s. I wasn’t ready to call it a season so I finally hit this course. To start we were early after learning the range closed 10/19. Is what it is. Had one of their $5 all-beef hot dogs and my partner got a reasonably priced beer. We practiced putting on the nice practice greens and they let us tee of 30 mins early. Amazing conditions for so late in the year. Everything trim and well maintained. Foliage was wonderful. Lots of wildlife and on at least one green a deer had been a little aggressive after the rain this week. There was also a family of 8 gophers on the 18th green (staff: not a joke). I’m not too familiar with the area but there must be a small airfield close by as there was the occasional buzz of sputtering Cessnas. Cart paths 100% original but carts were nice and handled just fine. I’ve starred this place and will definitely be back next year.
This used to be a nice golf course. Definitely not worth the $79 to play. Greens are terrible and the pace of play was 6 hours. I've heard this place up for sale or sold. Take the money and close down!
This course is a true hidden gem among public Michigan courses. It has beautiful scenery and it’s a fair challenge. The major knock for this course is the pace of play. Tee times are scheduled 9 minutes apart from one another. Got to the course at 11:30 for an 11:45 tee time. We had 3/4 of our group there and they wanted to send us out early. Since our group wasn’t there they sent the group behind us our first. We were at the first tee box at 11:40 and didn’t tee off until 11:50. Took us around 3 hours and 15 minutes to finish the front 9 (no Marshall ever came out to speed up play). Stopped at the turn grabbed a dog and the group behind us jumped in front of us. They were struggling to keep balls in the fairway and at many points were each hitting 2/3 balls per shot in order to complete the holes. Eventually Marshall came out on hole 15 and said he was going to tell them to speed it up. Honestly longest game of golf i’ve ever played not sure Id come back unless there a lot of open tee times as to not get stuck behind groups again. Overall Course Condition 8 Layout / Design 9 Scenery / Environment 9 Pace of Play 2 (6 and a half hours for 18) Difficulty / Challenge 8.5 Overall Enjoyment 7
