The visit to the caves in Cantabria was an amazing experience. The transportation with pick up was really convenient and comfortable. Our guide Jairo was excellent — his English was perfect, he was very friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable, which made the visit even more interesting. The small group size (only four of us) made the experience feel personal and relaxed, especially inside the caves. Seeing the Paleolithic paintings up close, in their original setting, was truly impressive. On the flip side, timings seemed a bit off as we had a 1+ hour wait before the first visit, so we could have probably met a bit later in the morning. I’m not sure how to qualify it as value for money cause I don’t know the cost of the tickets for the caves. It does seem on the expensive side but I couldn’t fully confirm.

Jairo Abajo Pardo was our driver and tour guide and was kind, gracious, and professional. He was knowledgeable about the caves and was attentive and personable. He even gave us an excellent recommendation for lunch. Thank you for a pleasant afternoon touring the caves Jairo!

I took the day tour with this company to see the Castillo caves, with some of the Paleolithic paintings dating back to 40,000 years ago. You are in great hands with Exploring Cantabria and I can’t recommend them enough! They personalize your small group tour (there were 3 of us) and share so much knowledge and the stories that swirl around these cave discoveries. It is an absolute privilege to take this tour with such warm, gracious and informative people and I can say with all honesty, it is the best day tour I have ever been on! It is a once in a lifetime experience and I’m still buzzing from the experience!

The Castillo and Monedas tour was excellent and it wouldn’t have been the same without Raphael as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and accommodating. If you’re considering a tour, just go ahead and book with Exploring Cantabria. I’m certain that your 5 star review will be next!

Picos de Europa tour! Brilliant… driven and guided by Jairo , comfortable people carrier, 8 travellers in total, Spanish, German and us English, perfecto! we did it with our 16 and 14 year old. Monastery, Potes town visit, then off to cable car in to the mountains. Quite a long drive 2.5 hours each way but all the way there our guide would alternate between Spanish and English to inform about all sorts. It was fine up the mountain in shorts and t shirt on a fine August day but if the weather was bad I’d take some extra layers. Always leave enough time to get down on the cable car as there’s a sudden rush just after 4pm and we were late ( held everyone up by 30 minutes). Sorry….. what views though!
