Embark on a full-day tour to discover the spiritual and historical treasures of Fátima and Coimbra. Begin with a journey to Fátima, Portugal’s most significant religious centre, famous for the apparitions of the Virgin Mary reported by three shepherd children in the early twentieth century. Visit the humble houses of Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta in the village of Aljustrel and imagine their simple daily lives. Experience the Sanctuary of Fátima, a place of devotion and peace, where the Chapel of the Apparitions marks the exact spot of the Virgin Mary’s appearances. Explore the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, housing the tombs of the three children, and observe the symbolic segment of the Berlin Wall. Feel the spiritual atmosphere and take some time to enjoy a relaxing lunch before continuing to the historical city of Coimbra. In Coimbra, admire the prestigious University, a World Heritage Site blending rich history with vibrant student life. Walk through the narrow streets, Roman ruins, and ramparts, discovering the long staircase of Quebra-Costas and charming historic neighbourhoods. From the University atrium, enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Learn about local traditions, observe the students’ iconic black capes, and uncover centuries of fascinating stories with your guide. This tour combines spiritual reflection, architectural beauty, and cultural insights for a truly memorable experience.

Unforgettable Douro day with Bernardo We had a private Douro Valley tour with Bernardo and it was outstanding. He has a warm, easygoing personality and speaks perfect English, which made the whole day smooth and fun. He was incredibly accommodating with our pace and preferences, and his driving was excellent the entire time: smooth, safe, and relaxed on those winding valley roads. Bernardo is also very knowledgeable about Portuguese history, wine, and local culture, and he is genuinely open-minded and curious about other cultures. We learned a lot, never felt rushed, and enjoyed thoughtful stops and great conversation. If we return to Portugal, we will book with Living Tours again and ask for Bernardo by name. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a stress-free, informative, and memorable Douro experience.

We have been on 4 tours with Living Tours and even though the weather was against us, all the tours were great. Our guides were Dioggo in Santiago de Compostela, David in the Douro Valley, Diego in Braga and Guimaraes, and Miguel on the Aveiro tour. The drivers were very careful and attentive, sometimes in a scary torrential rain. Each trip had its own specifics and charm, the one in Santiago with religious themes in which Dioggo told us with great charm and of course the history of Saint James. On the trip to the Douro Valley we must remember the place where we had lunch, the special location in a former ancient mansion so picturesque and with delicious food and wine. On the trip to Braga and Guimaraes it rained the hardest of all, and even though the bus had some problems with the air conditioning system, it was quickly changed to another one at Diego's firm request. We would like to thank Diego in particular for his dedication. He was not discouraged by the bad weather, he completed the trip without skipping a single thing, he motivated us with his optimistic attitude, and his explanations were clear, precise, and absolutely unforgettable. The last trip to Aveiro was the beautiful, the weather improved, Miguel was attentive to everyone's questions, too bad it lasted so short. 4 hours is a lot, far too little for this destination, considering that it takes 2 hours to get there and back to Porto! We only spent 15 minutes in Costa Nova, only 30 minutes in Aveiro for a very short walk, plus the 50 minutes on the river cruise. The program should be modified with at least another 2 hours to visit these beautiful places. We will definitely recommend Living Tours services and book with them again, maybe in Spain next time.

Duro valley historical sites cruise and wine tasting Tour guide and driver Paulo and Idalino Lovely taste of the Duri valley with living tours. The meeting place is easy to locate. Expect it to be busy and arrive ly a little early. You will need to book, best to use your smart phone on arrival. This will give you your bus number. There is no cover so if its wet bring a brolly. The tour is easily paced, there was a lot of time on the road, which you should expect that given we are heading out into interior. Comfort breaks were well positioned and in good location. The highlights of the tour are the cruise, vineyard visit and lunch. The views from the bus as you pace through the countryside are lovely so the bus time passes quickly. The driving was smooth and measured, 'you felt you were in a safe pair of hands.' Our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny and helpful a really likeable chap. Thanks living tours, the weather you could do nothing about, the tour was excellent.

We took the small group Douro trip. Exactly as advertised. Some really spectacular scenery and a lot of great insights into the port wine industry. My only criticism would be lunch entree was so-so and that’s a really subjective ( it had a ton of beans which aren’t my taste). The soup starter and dessert were brilliant. The real star of the show was our guide, Jeorge. He was so knowledgeable, personable and helpful. One of our crew had left some personal belongings back in Lisbon and he helped coordinate the return of them ( just amazing customer service above and beyond expectations). Loved learning from him and having him skillfully get us over the narrow and twisty roads in a safe and comfortable fashion. Highly recommend!

We took a small group Duoro Valley wine tour with Living Tours and had a great time. I have to mention our driver/tour guide Vasco Oliveira. He is very passionate, informative, funny and clearly loves what he does. The two wineries we stopped at had spectacular views and the wine was great. The lunch they served at the second winery was very good and by far the best I've ever had from a tour with food included in the price. On the way back he even took us to an extra destination, Amarante, which was a really cute town. We got to walk across a bridge that Napoleon crossed when he was in Portugal. We then had coffee and delicious local pastries at a bakery along the river that had a perfect relaxing atmosphere
