Whether you choose a traditional wayfarer for a family adventure or a racing dinghy to challenge your sailing skills, there is something for everyone. Children and adults alike enjoy the thrill of gliding across the lake, exploring hidden bays and islands, and stopping off at St Herberts, the island featured in the 2016 Swallows and Amazons movie, when conditions allow. Prior sailing experience is recommended for those using racing dinghies, while the wayfarer offers a more relaxed experience suitable for beginners and families. Freshly washed and sanitised wetsuits and buoyancy aids are provided for all participants, with a wide range of sizes available. For those not wanting to wear a wetsuit, bringing a change of clothes or your own wetsuit is recommended. Wayfarer sailors may prefer a waterproof or windproof jacket to stay comfortable. On hot days, sun protection such as lotion, sunglasses, and a hat are advised, along with a bottle of water. Electronics and valuables should be kept in a dry bag or left at home to prevent damage.
